Oh boy. Friday night.

Re: Oh boy. Friday night.

  • We went out for dinner and came home and watched Spider-Man.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • @JCbride2015 - I feel like teaching is the one thing that you should absolutely walk away from if your heart isn't in it 100%, so I'd say that's a great decision, even if you doubt it sometimes. Also, hello, strangers.
  • I'm l suing in bed on my phone w a beer annoyed. I went into the resturaunt for what I assumed was my last day. Turned out the owner text the wrong number asking if I really wanted to work tonight and the asshole she text said no. So I stop working on the baby pjs I was making for a shower on Sunday, get there and find out I'm no longer scheduled for tonight!

I got home FI called a friend of his so I decided to fix the trim on the pjs to kill time, then planned to eat leftovers and cuddle on the couch w him and Netflix. He wanted to play video games which equals no cuddling :( I went down stairs because he insists in playing zelda w the surround sound on so I don't even like being in the same room. Even down here its annoying.

  • Sounds like y'all are having a much, much more exciting Friday evening than I am.  I was proctoring exams from 11-1 and 2:45-7:45 pm, and now I'm home and working on job cover letters and a sample syllabus.  I can't even booze or I risk a migraine, and I don't have time for that because I have three more applications due Monday.

Have a brewski for me, please!  (or better yet, a lemon drop or a margarita!)

  • I can't believe that I'm almost done with invitations!

I also discovered how something delicious... FI made rhubarb simple syrup and I mixed that with my champagne.. YUM.

  • My BIL just got engaged tonight. Happy for him and his FI. She is a sweet girl. Kind of hoping they have a long engagement. I'm just not in the mood to go back to NY right away. Well I'm assuming it will be back in NY since they are both from there.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.

This sounds a little bit like kir royale.  YUM indeed.

I took the idea from kir royales, but I wasn't sure how the tartness of the rhubarb would pair with it.  No regrets.

    Edit to make sense

  • This glass is for my homie, @Jells2dot0!

Side note, I don't comment a lot on heavy stuff; but I hugely respect your attitude about life.

    It's fucking ridic.
I love Kill La Kill, have you watched all of it? My FI got me into it, even though he thought I would think it's sexist. He's really glad I like it.

I went to see Guardians of the Galaxy with my sister and FI is pissy because I guess he wanted to see it. I asked him to take me but he didn't so it's his loss.

    Thank you!!

My mom got mad at me today because sometimes I act like i'm not even sick and it gets me into trouble (I push myself and do things I shouldn't.) But, most of the time, my stubbornness gets me through the crappy side effects.

  • @time2strtliving you know it's bad when being sick is preferable to the alternative! I used to have an awful job where I seriously wouldn't have minded a minor fender bender if it meant I didn't have to go or could be late. The flu, the dentist, the funeral of a distant old aunt...All things I would have rather been doing!
There were certain days when I was teaching where I'd be driving down the highway towards work and literally think, "If I just got rear-ended right now in traffic, and broke like one bone, I'd be out of school for at least a week.  And my car insurance would cover it."

    Not a good sign.
Funny story I left that job and got a teaching degree............
Really?  Are you a teacher now?

And I should be clear, I cried inconsolably when I left my teaching job.  Um, in my supervisor's office no less.  I'm only 85% sure I made the right decision switching to law instead (oh whoops, I guess I'm in the honest-drunk phase of the night).  I loved more days than I hated.  But man, the bad days were really bad.
Nope.  You want to know what's even funnier?  I left a law firm to get my teaching degree!  I was a paralegal for a while, and I really thought law school was in my future.  I saw how the attorneys worked though and knew I couldn't deal with that in my life.  Little did I know teachers work almost as many hours with a tiny fraction of the pay.  (Tip: Find a competent paralegal at your firm and make friends--the boss people will try not to give you a choice in who helps you.  Don't listen!  Find the smart one!)

I just finished the degree in May and ended up not teaching this year for many reasons.  I do tutor a couple kids, and I have been loving working with their family.  They go to a big private school in my area, so I am kind of trying to worm my way in there.

  • @bc+rw16 No, I haven't watched all of it yet, I started watching last night and I'm on episode 8. I'm really enjoying it so far.

Go see Guardians again with him. It's worth it. :P
