Lace BM Dress and Lace Brides Dress?

My bridesmaids and I just went shopping for BM dresses and they all fell in love with a lace dress. My wedding dress is all lace and I am afraid theirs is going to take away attention from mine by looking too similar.

Overreacting.  Both dresses are beautiful, but your gown is showstopping.  IMO, it's a very nice compliment to yours.

I think it compliments your dress! And your dress is gorgeous! There is no way their's would overshadow yours!

That dress in black is gorgeous, will compliment yours nicely and is one of the few bridesmaid dresses that could be worn again. I mean if you go to fancy things.

They will look really nice next to you in those dresses but not overshadow you in least!

Eh, I do think it competes with your dress instead of complimenting it. As long as they haven't bought the dress I think it would be fine to pick something else. Maybe email them and say. "You know after sleeping on it I just don't love the black dress, sorry! Here's a few other options I found pls let me know what you think."

How on earth is a black dress 'too similar' to a white dress? Everyone is going to know you're the bride.

They're both floor length all over lace dresses. I actually think the black dresss are more stunning than the white dress.

You will all look lovely, but the BMs will not be the topic of discussion.

Generally I would say, you are the bride and of course the attention will be all about you.  On this one, i agree with Starmoon that the black dresses are really nice, but a little too close to your style.  Not sure if you could change the underlining color or if you should find a different dress for the BMs.

I agree with Starmoon.  Now if they were short lace dresses then I would be all "no competition at all." but since both are long full lace gowns and they will be in black which in my opinion in the right fabric can be pretty eye catching and stunning, then there is definite competition going on.

Simply because you are here, asking about it, I would (politely) tell you BMs they will be continuing to look for dresses.  You are obviously not comfortable with them wearing this dress.  I understand wanting your BMs to look beautiful and feel confident, but don't do it at the expense of your peace of mind.  

As to whether the choice of BM dress compliments or competes with your own, it depends a lot on your venue, style of wedding, and I hate to say it because it sounds really shallow, but also body type.  IMO, that dress is going to look really different on two BMs if you have one who's 5'2" and another who's 5'10", and again on someone very slender as opposed to very curvy.  These are all things you need to take in to consideration too.

Also, have you considered allowing the BMs to choose their own dresses?  That helps them avoid disappointment if they all love this dress and may not completely agree on a new one.

My real concern is the first look factor, I know it sounds a little vain, but its just what i want. 

I was thinking if I have the bridesmaids wear a shawl going down the aisle it would deter attention away from the overall dress.

I also attached the picture of the dress in the all black, since the photo on the website is in a green color.

Your dress is STUNNING! So are the bm dresses, who culd blame them for loving such a style...you obviousy love it! I do agree though that the dress is just too close. Ask them to consider a similar style in a different fabric, most vendors can oblige the request.
