weekend recap and Monday chat!

it was a big weekend for NEY-ers!!

@Ollie08 & @lennondkc both got married!  I doubt they'll be around much to recap, but I can't wait to see all the pictures and hear about it!

@southernpeach89 threw @LaPeanut1018 a bachelorette shower...  girls, let's hear from you!

what else happened this weekend?

Friday I was off work at 10:45 because I had too many hours that pay period.  we had some huge drama with the health insurance situation, but my H's work is going to take care of it so I think everything will be okay.

I got my front porch all fall-ified.  I need to pick up some pansies and actually pot my mums (they're still in the containers), but it's looking super cute!

I can't remember anything else that was super exciting about this weekend.  I got a mani/pedi and had Italian with a girlfriend...  we had our first cold day (it was upper 40s at night, 50s in the day) so I had to wear some boots and a scarf to my PMP class.  we had our Spanish service in the main church yesterday, so H and I were exhausted from that.  I napped, did homework, cleaned.  that's about it!

Re: weekend recap and Monday chat!

  • oh, and H and I split a pumpkin cream cheese muffin from Starbucks!  it was his first time to try it, and he loved it.  they have a new pumpkin scone that looks super yummy, but H's birthday is coming up so we have a big foodie weekend planned already, so it'll just have to wait.
  • @CocoBellaF - That's so cold!!!! It was chilly here this morning and I wore a jacket but it's going to be 72 today.

Friday, I went out for drinks with my BFF before she went to a concert and then I went to bed early.

Saturday, I had the worst hangover I've had in a while which was really unusual and unexpected as I didn't drink that much that night before. It was rainy all day so I watched the entire season of The Leftovers. It was so good!

Yesterday, I met my friend for brunch (I had a bloody mary with pickle juice in it and it was amazing!) then went out for football. The Eagles don't play until tonight so I didn't care too much about the games that were on yesterday. Except that I was happy the Giants lost again.

  • @Swazzle, I love brunch.  with this class on Saturday mornings, I am not getting my brunch fix.  :(

I forgot our biggest piece of news!  my MIL is finally divorcing her H!  some of you have been around and know all the crazy stuff with my ILs, but I never thought she would ever divorce him.  it is such good news, because he is not a nice dude.
  • I slept horrible last night - my cat night yowls; I think I'm going to move him into @Swazzle's new cat sanctuary as soon as she moves in and converts the attic.  I love my cat to death but 2AM-4AM is not the ideal time for attention.

Saturday we picked up FI's brother from the airport, watched the Ohio State game, then went to go get the suits.  FI's was ready, his brother's suit was in and he got fitted, and then we noticed a giant snag on it, so they had to order him in a new one.  I had to run and pick up a few things at Target.  Then we just relaxed in the evening.

Sunday - ran to the mall to look for a specific pair of shoes the boys wanted, but Dillards only sells them online.  Found some ties for the boys, but I think they were too expensive and we could get nice ones so much cheaper.  I went and got a lip stain but I'm not 100% sure I'm sold on the color.  We will see, I typically wear foundation/bb cream and chapstick and that's it - so it's probably just me not used to seeing a color on my lip.

  • @CocoBellaF - Brunch was really delicious yesterday. I had a BLT, it was on an english muffin and there was herbed goat cheese on it. Mmmmmmmmmm!!!

@Dignity100 - My cats have been insane the last few nights. They're usually pretty good at sleeping at night but lately they've been chasing each other back and forth from one end of the apartment to the other. I might lock them in the cat sanctuary when we move!

  • I had a pretty good weekend. Friday was nothing too exciting, but it was taco night at our house so that is always a good thing.   We mostly relaxed and watched TV.

Saturday it rained and was quite cool out. We went furniture shopping, we found a buffet we liked for the dining room and a couch for the entertainment room.  I love them both, we didn't order them since we went to go look at a few more places afterwards.  We will over the next week or two.

Sunday I woke up early to volunteer for the pancake fundraiser for a theater company I work with.  It was nice to see everyone.  After I ran some errands was in front of the couch watching football the rest of the day.  I was unhappy over how cold and fall like it was this weekend.   I wore my fall jacket this morning it was that cold out :-(

  • @Swazzle - Merlin (cat) has been HORRIBLE for the past few months.  He's older (15) so I thought it was just night blindness, so I put out a ton of nightlights for him, but he still is meowing at the top of his kitty-lungs.  I've locked him in the basement a few times just so I can sleep.  He's starting to do it during the day as well (before it was only at night).  I've even asked at the vet what it could be and they didn't find anything health-wise.

  • @Swazzle - I would like all of your brunch now please.

@Dignity100 - Glad you saw that snag this weekend instead of 3 weeks from now!

I had a really nice relaxed weekend, which was much needed!

Friday night FI and I went to dinner with his parents and then watched a movie and ate candy. Best decision.

Saturday was all cold and rainy so he didn't golf and we slept in and went out for breakfast. Then Saturday evening his parents were having schnitzel fest so I spent part of the afternoon helping his mom get ready for that...the only downside is that FI knows that I've been taught how to make his mom's schnitzel and he's going to want it all. the. time. Oh well.

Yesterday was church and lazing around. It was pretty chilly again so I snuggled up on the couch and worked on pulling together addresses for our STDs (which should be delivered today!!) and FI watched football and napped. We needed a relaxed weekend, so this fit the bill perfectly!

  • This weekend was AWESOME! I'm struggling today because I forgot my laptop at home so I had to drive all the way back to get it and then decided to just work from home.

I'll let @LaPeanut1018 AW about her Bachelorette Party but we had a great time!!! I set everything up Friday evening and the party started Saturday afternoon. We all came home Sunday afternoon and I spent the rest of the day watching TV and trying not to fall asleep before bedtime lol.

It's super ugly here this morning. It's cold and rainy.
  • @LaPeanut1018 - I love (almost) everything about your post (except for the throwing up part)!!!! The pictures with the T-Rex are absolutely hysterical. @southernpeach89 looks like she had a good amount to drink in that last one hahahahaha

  • @lapeanut1018 sounds ike a great time minus the puking. The pictures are great, I love the new hairstyle!

  • Hey people!

I had a pretty nice weekend, until the end. Friday after work I went to the gym (4 out of 5 days last week, woot!!) then I went home, changed, and took the train into the city to go out with FI and his friend from high school. Honestly, this girl annoys the hell out of me. I thought she was nice the first few times I met her, but whenever we all hang out (her, FI, and myself), I feel like ALL she talks about is stuff from high school, leaving me totally out of the conversation. Anyways, regardless of that it was still fun to go out, since I haven't been out in the city in a while.

Saturday we were lazy in the morning, and then went to Riverdale to see my ex-coworker's condo he and his wife just bought. They have a 2 year old son who I've babysat a bunch of times, and he's one of the cutest little boys I've ever met. We all went out to lunch to an awesome burger place - I had one with grilled pineapple, melted mozzarella, bacon, and chipotle aioli and it was pretty incredible.

Sunday we went to a craft store so I could get supplies for making a couple of props for our e-pics this weekend, and we went to the dog park. The pup was having a fantastic time, until all of a sudden, she started running around with her head tilted, and shaking it a lot. I was pretty sure she got a small piece of gravel in there (the park is all gravel), but I couldn't see anything inside. She stopped shaking except for every once in a while when we were at home, but this morning she was still tilting her head and flicking her left ear, so I decided to take a personal day and bring her into the vet.

The vet couldn't see anything in her ear canal, but said her inner ear is moderately inflamed and is very sensitive, so he put some medicine in there and also gave her an anti-inflammatory shot. He said that should clear in up in a few days, but of course he had to scare me and tell me that if it didn't it could be a sign of something neurological. I wish they would have found a something in her ear to explain why this started all of a sudden (I was SURE they'd see something in there), but they didn't.

Now I'm determined to enjoy an extra day off, since it did cost me $170 :-/

  • @LaPeanut1018 That picture of me is sooo bad lol! I was getting anxious because I thought the hotel was going to kick us out for putting our boas on the t-rex lol.
  • @LaPeanut1018 That T-Rex is everything! hahaha so random. I love all the pics and it sounds like you guys had an amazing night! By the way, you have GORGEOUS hair. Seriously. Like, Topanga level gorgeous.

@Swazzle I think brunch is the best invention ever.

My weekend was very laid back. Friday night we hung out with some friends and had pizza and ice cream. I had a glass of wine too since I can finally drink again. No regrets!

Saturday we cleaned and just hung out around the apartment, and then Saturday night we went over our friends' apartment to clear up some drama. It was weird and went ok, but we all said our peace so whatever. They're in the wedding party, so I wanted to smooth everything over ASAP.

Sunday we went and visited some other friends at their new house, and it was so much fun. Their daughter is the cutest thing alive, and she has SO much personality. She and FI were having a war over crayons, and she kept calling him a "silly old boy!" Too funny. Sunday night we got Boston Market and watched Edge of Tomorrow, which was really good. FI's been wanting to watch that movie since it came out, but for whatever reason we were never able to catch it in theatres.

Also, one of our friends got engaged Friday night, which was exciting. I found it interesting though how differently I handled my engagement vs how she's handling hers. For example, she immediately posted pics of the engagement and a ring album right after her FI proposed, and I kept it hush hush for a few days. Also, the following day, she made little picture collages that said "Will you be my bridesmaid?" or "Will you be my maid of honor?" and tagged the women in them. It's all very public... so hopefully that approach works out for her.

I was thisclose to either calling in sick or working from home today, but then I remembered I have a lot to do for one job and that I'm planning on working from home Friday so I can be there when my iPhone is delivered.... so I guess I have to be a responsible adult today.

Oh! Also! Bonus and paycheck were deposited today! I look so rich! It's all already earmarked for various credit cards and bills and such, but for now I'm going to bask in the glow of my temporary wealth. I feel like a baller lol.

  • @swazzle & @dignity100 - my cat is also being an asshole. I'm sure you're surprised.

@lapeanut1018 - You are so gorgeous - I LOVE your hair!! I'm so glad you guys had an awesome time! I kind of want to do a paint & sip for my bachelorette now too!! :)@southernpeach89 did a fantastic job planning :) (@swazzle - take note.)

@cocobellaF - We went to an open house yesterday, and it had an adorable front porch, and walking up, I was totally picturing decorating it for fall. :) I can't wait to have a house to decorate!!

    I also want a baby t-rex.

    ****

My weekend was good - Friday I didn't do much. Saturday we had our first home football game of the season, so I worked for a few hours. I really thought we were going to win - it was a crazy game - but we ended up losing by three. BOOO.

Yesterday, FI & I went to an open house at one of our top picks on our list, and absolutely loved it. Unfortunately, the taxes are just INSANE, so I'm not sure if it's going to work out, which makes me sad, because we both loved everything about the house - the layout, the location, everything. Adulting is hard.

Later in the afternoon, my bridesmaid & her boyfriend came over for dinner & football. We made buffalo chicken stuffed sweet potato skins, which were 1. on my eating plan, and 2. FUCKING DELICIOUS. I'm really loving this plan I'm on, because I'm losing weight, but I'm never hungry, and the recipes are SOOOOOOO good.

Today, I'm finishing up a couple projects at work, and then cleaning up & making dinner :)

@Ollie08 & @lennondkc Congratulations!!!! Can't wait to hear how amazing your days were!

CocoBellaF that pumpkin cream cheese muffin sounds a lot like the pumpkin spice cupcakes I make... and now I want need pumpkin snacks!

Nothing exciting this weekend.  I spent the entire weekend on the couch because I've been putting too much weight on my foot.  Have my follow up Thursday, so trying to stay off as much as possible now to make up for not listening.  We'll see how that goes.

  • now H's company isn't going to cover me (again).  *sigh*  I'm gonna go puke.
  • @CocoBellaF Why do they keep going back and forth? This is ridiculous! :(

  • I don't know.  I have like 5 days left to get this taken care of.  I don't think they're going to cover me and I'm going to be left with basically no health insurance (everything out of pocket) until the end of the year.  and my husband, too.  my new HR lied to me about all of this and now we're stuck.  if nothing else, we've got to get him off of this and onto his insurance so at least one of us has something.

I feel like SO MANY people are very public like this with FB and social media around now. I changed my status to engaged the day after and ignored people's requests to put up pictures of my ring. The only status regarding the wedding I think I've made is for anyone to let me know of photographer recs. My mom and friend tagged me in a status when we were dress shopping and a couple people tagged us in statuses congratulating us when we got engaged.. That's it. I'm also a pretty private person though so it's just annoying to me when people put every stupid detail of their lives on FB..WR and NWR.

  • I had a boring weekend, just the way I like it!
I only left the house to go for a walk with my friend on Saturday morning lol. I did a load of laundry and the landlord finally had our kitchen sink fixed- it's been leaking for AT LEAST a month and half.
FI was away with some work friends in Montreal so it was just me and the kitty relaxing and STRESSING over this damn wedding. I'm getting so overwhelmed and I kinda just want to elope but we can't.

  • @CocoBellaF Wow, that's awful. They lied? I'm so sorry. I do hope you guys are at least able to get your H on decent insurance, but I just can't believe you've been put through the ringer like this. :(

@lavenderfields13 Exactly! I'm the same way! I've made a couple of statuses about the wedding, but it was mainly the announcement, laughing at myself for registering a gmail account with my last name, and talking about how excited I was for the honeymoon. No actual planning info. I mean, no one needs to know all of that information, and I don't want to bombard everyone on my FB with WR info. This girl is in her early 20s, from a small town, and posts a lot of stuff on FB daily, so it might be just fine for her to put all her business out there. It was just...interesting?... especially when she asked everyone to be in her wedding by tagging them on a picture on FB. Haven't seen that before lol. I'm sorry you're stressing so much about the wedding? :( Can we help in any way? We can give feedback on colors or invitations or flowers or whatever.

Glad to hear you  ladies had a fun time; I'm going to be really disappointed now if there isn't a t-rex somewhere in my wedding festivities.

@eilis1228 - She is playing a dangerous game with FB...I hope those girls say yes, because otherwise AWKWARD.

@GoldenPenguin - I might have missed this previously, but do you mind sharing what plan you're on? FI is talking more about losing weight and I want to be supportive without eating terrible boring food!

@CocoBellaF - This? This is bullshit. I'm sorry for all the stress :(

    @lavenderfields13 - What's stressing you out?

First world problems rant: I feel like I need to replace a LOT of shoes/boots this fall. I have a bunch that are starting to fall apart and are outdated, but I'm annoyed that they all seem to need to be replaced at the same time. I'm looking forward to new shoes (pretty!) but not to how much it could cost to replace them all (boo, responsibilities).

  • @lmcooper86  - I'm currently doing the Advocare 24-Day Challenge. I don't want to get advertisy/spammy on here, but you can look it up & if you have any questions about it, you can totally PM me! :)

While doing the Challenge, I'm pretty much just eating Paleo, which is lots of lean protein, whole grains, veggies, fruits, etc. No added sugar, no processed food - essentially, REAL food. I feel great, always satisfied, never hungry, lots of energy, and - best of all - everything is DELICIOUS!! :)

  • @lmcooper86 Right?! It's funny because one of them is also a friend of mine, and I know there's tension between them. She hasn't said yes yet (at least on FB), so FI and I keep smirking about it. I'm sure she'll say yes eventually, but it's still funny. The potential BM is the bride's SIL/FSIL (bride is BM's SIL already because she's the sister of BM's husband, and the groom is the BM's brother... genetically their kids will be more like half siblings than cousins), so it's a given she'll be in the party even if there's tension between the two. But yeah, FB is a dangerous game when it comes to planning any sort of event.

@GoldenPenguin That's awesome! I tried eating paleo last year and just couldn't do it. I'm jealous of your will power! Everyone I know who is on a paleo diet looks and feels fantastic, so I know you're going to see amazing results.

This!!! I understand being excited, but I don't understand the urgency to share on facebook.  Then again, I do not even have my relationship status view-able to anyone.

I also don't understand posting this kind of announcement on fb before immediate family knows.  I had an extended family member do this; only reason it bothered me was because they announced through fb before they told their children.  One of their kids commented saying, "gee thanks for letting me know before a bunch of strangers" and it blew up into an attack from everyone they knew, plus anyone extra who could see the status.

LOL! FB drama is one of my guilty pleasures. I always get the popcorn out and watch it unfold. I totally agree that you need to tell family and close friends first (which is what I did), but I know a lot of people use FB these days as their main way of communicating with others. But in the case of your friends... I seriously can't believe they didn't tell their kids first. That's pretty messed up.

I was skeptical when I first saw people doing Paleo, and nervous when I started, but it's really not that hard! The hardest part of any meal plan is the PLANNING part. I found an awesome website & printed out a ton of recipes, and FI & I have just been picking from those to eat.

I can't say I haven't been tempted - we had chips & salsa out yesterday, and I didn't eat ANY of it. I really really wanted a pumpkin coffee from Dunkin on Friday, but I drove right by. I did make myself a pumpkin coffee in the Keurig yesterday morning, but didn't add anything to it, so I didn't feel too bad.

My first two days on the Challenge, I had a headache, and I'm positive it was sugar withdrawal. It's amazing how good you can feel when you're eating REAL food as opposed to processed shit with extra sugar in it.

    This weekend was really fun.

Friday, DH and I watched bad TV and ate takeout Chinese.

Saturday, DH and I went out for breakfast, went to Petco and got some goodies for the kitties, snuggled a bit, went to the zoo...in which there is the most ADORABLE hippo, and went to this hole in the wall place for a late lunch, which was delicious.  Guys, they had PIZZA POT PIE.  It was the most delicious thing I've eaten in Chicago.  NOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOM.  Then we went home, snuggled, and I read HP.

Sunday, we got up early, made breakfast and did some EPIC house cleaning.  We scrubbed down, vacuumed, and dusted EVERYTHING.  Then we went through our closet and tossed all the old, torn, stained, ugly shit we don't use.  We went grocery shopping.  And we washed, dried, folded, and put away 4 loads of laundry.  And we watched football.  I felt so accomplished.

ETA:  And today, my company launched its new website, which I designed and wrote ALL of the content for.  I am SO proud!
