Hi all!
I'm debating whether or not to give a formal invitation to someone...
A little back story: I moved across the country to be with FI and to find a job in field I graduated college from this summer. Because of this, I don't have many friends in the area. The closest to a friend I have here is my violin teacher. He's a sweet guy and he has done so many favors for me already and I feel like I can call him a friend but I've only known him for 1.5 months - 2 months and we only really hang out at the music store where he works and I take lessons.
When we were looking for a band [and gave up because they were all so expensive], my violin teacher offered to play our wedding within our budget, got his cellist friend to agree to it and even started to look for more musicians to get us a full string quartet for under our budget! (I told him it would be a little over the top for such a small wedding and a string duet is more than enough). So he and his cellist friend are playing at our reception; he'll be attending our reception anyway.
My mom and FI both told me to just go ahead and give him a formal invitation, save the dates, and everything and I kind of want to. My question is, would it come across as a nice gesture or would it be weird/awkward to do so in this situation?
