NWR: Let's talk about jeans.

My former skinny jeans are now my saggy-butt jeans.  My sister told me today, "They're still cute, but they look like boyfriend jeans."  Not what I'm going for when I want to wear a cute top and heels out at night.

I'm thinking about buying the same jeans in a smaller size (J. Crew Factory) but these have a habit of stretching out after a wear or two, so I have to put them in the dryer a lot.  It's annoying.

Where do you get your jeans?  Anybody have recommendations for really tight skinny jeans that still have substantial, thick denim?  I want skinny jeans, not jeggings.  I like my jeans to sort of suck me in.

Re: NWR: Let's talk about jeans.

  • I have skinnies from Old Navy that are pretty thick. I'm pretty sure I bought them during the fall/winter (I have several pairs in thinner denim that are spring/summer weight).

  • I love my Paige jeans, but they're an investment, which is why I only own two pairs of them (one skinny, one flared) and purchased one last year, and one this.  I find I get several days of wear out of them before I have to put them in the dryer.

I think the only reason I went with Paige originally, if my memory actually extends to last year, is because I'm super fussy about having mid or high waisted jeans.  I'm not a teenager, and I don't need the entire world seeing my thong.  It was really difficult to find jeans with a decent waist line that weren't two inches too short.

Good luck with it!  I have a couple of pairs of VS skinnies that I like because they were super cheap.  One pair has to go in the dryer after every wear.  I agree; it's just a pain, not to mention a really unnecessary way of using electricity.

  • I buy all my jeans from American Eagle.
  • I just bought new jeans at Nordstrom yesterday. They're not skinnies though (usually I just buy cheap ones from Forever 21 or Charlotte Russe so I can't give much feedback on that!). The ones I'm replacing were from Arden B and they fit SO well and were so nice. The ones I just bought at Treasure&Bond brand (http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/treasurebond-slim-bootcut-jeans-dark/3606286?origin=keywordsearch-personalizedsort&contextualcategoryid=0&fashionColor=&resultback=632&cm_sp=personalizedsort-_-searchresults-_-1_3_A).
  • Suzy Shier.  It's been more fall-like weather lately, so I have been able to wear my jeans for the first time in months and they look dang good.

  • Miss Me brand skinny jeans are my go to. They are expensive but totally worth it as they last (I have an 8 year old pair that still fits/looks like brand new). I love buying anything denim from Buckle, if they have those in your area. Best store ever.

  • American Eagle jeans. All day. Artist now that I'm currently large/in charge, but when I was thinner I'd also wear their skinny or boyfriend jeans as well.

  • I am pretty classic with the jeans- Levi's are honestly my favorite. The quality is great and they last a long time.

  • I third the American Eagle jeans. I buy all my pairs from there and they are awesome. I usually wear jeggings but their skinnies are great as well. And the best part is that you never have to pay full price since AE is continuously having sales.

I'm going to try out jeans from The Limited next. My boss buys everything from there and she's pretty happy with their jeans.

  • I have tried (but not purchased) Miss Me and they did seem really high quality.  I don't own Levi's but maybe I should try them.  They seem to be having a surge in popularity lately.  @sarahufl Do you find that your skinny Levi's keep their shape pretty well, or do you have to put them in the dryer to shrink them back?

And I know Paige are really good but they're totally an investment.  Maybe I'll wait until later in the fall for a really nice pair of jeans.  I just want skinny jeans now that are actually skinny on me!

  • I either get my jeans from American Eagle or Aeropostal (may have mispelled that...oh well). I have short ass legs and need to have the "short" version of jeans, so theirs are perfect for me.

  • I love me some Levis, either from Macy's or the Levi's outlet.

  • I have a pair of skinny jeans from Banana Republic that are decent, but my favs are Joe's Jeans.

  • I recently re-discovered Lucky Jeans, and I cannot recommend them highly enough! One of my fashionable friends, who has never complemented me on my fashion, actually complemented me on my Lucky jeans last weekend. I have the hardest time finding jeans that fit, but Lucky seems to have a fit for every body type.

Also, I like that the inside of the fly says "Lucky You" because I secretly have the humor of a 13 year old.
  • I buy my jeans from Target.  I buy the Denizen brand which is by Levis.  I have four pairs of boot cut (2 different shapes and both shapes in regular length and long length for my heels) and one pair of pull on skinny jeans.

I bought them last year and I tend to wear the hell out of my jeans (like almost a daily clothing staple) so I wash and dry them a lot but they these have held up amazingly well.  Except for the one pair where after I gained a couple of pounds I had to do the 'squat to stretch them out' thing and the butt near the pocket kind of ripped.  I just slapped an iron on patch on the inside and still wear them but only with long tops :)

  • J.Crew proper is pretty good about not sagging. So is their "sister" store, Madewell (a personal fave of mine. God, I just want to crawl in their Fall catalogue and live there).

Levis are good and stiff (in some cases) but I have found that despite their "curvy/straight" fit system, their stuff rarely fits me well.

  • I used to love AE jeans but the last two pair I've gotten have ended up with holes in the ass/thigh area (...hmmm, maybe that's a junk in the trunk issue, not a band issue, though ;). I love Joe's. Expensive, but you can get that Nordstrom Rack for under $100.

  • I'm fat so I have different options than you probably do.

I end up with a combination of Paige, Old Navy, Denizen, and a few NYDJ. The NYDJ were originally a hand-me-down from my mom. She bought them clearanced online and the tailor told her that they couldn't be shortened enough without killing the leg. I love them! I'm wearing a dark pair of NYDJ flares that I constantly get complimented on. They make my ass look killer. It's been a while since I've looked but they used to be discounted heavily at Nordstrom Rack.

  • I've tried them all.  And my favorites are from Old Navy.

They fit me the best and are only $19 bucks when on sale.  Can't beat that.

I have 3 pairs of Levi's- 1 is boot cut and isn't intended to fit really tight. Another pair is slim, so not super skinny. I have a pair of black jeggings there that hold their shape for multiple wears (not ashamed to admit I wear them....ahem....a lot....before washing). But even the non-skinny ones hold their shape for multiple wears.

  • I actually buy Wranglers or Miss Me. They are a little cheaper if I buy them at Boot Barn instead of Buckle. But I'm more of a boot cut girl. I don't think I've ever owned a pair of skinny jeans. I also have long legs so I always have to buy my jeans in long or extra long.

  • I love love love Lauren Conrad's jeans from Kohl's. They have great wear, and they fit me perfectly!

  • I was going to ask this question. My new job is super casual so I have nothing to wear. Before I wore suits daily. And owned two pairs of jeans.
My favorite we some Buffalo ones but I wore the knees out after wearing them basically every weekend for 4 years. I have a pair of Express ones that are decent. I just bought some at HM but they don't fit great. I have big muscle thighs and butt from lifting so nothing fits right anymore.

You might want to try Lucky Jeans. I have a hard time finding jeans that fit because I have a narrow waist, wide hips, and a bit of a booty. I always end up with awkward fitting jeans because I get that back cap, or they are loose in the wrong places. I was able to find a style that fits properly at Lucky.
  • I buy all of my jeans from Banana Republic and have never had any issue with them stretching out.

I still have a pair of high school that are in great shape! Of course, I haven't worn them in the past year since I gained a ton of weight, but up until that point, I was still wearing them.
  • I like AE jeans or Old Navy.

  • I love Miss Me jeans. I wear American Eagle too.

My Hollister skinny jeans. Remember those white skinny jeans that I got blood all over?? They're back to perfection! They are a thick jean material and have held up their shape for the year and a half that I've had them, and I wear them A LOT! They have a diamond threaded pattern on the front side - so cute and chic.

These are them!! BUY THEM THEYRE ON SALE!

  • I have a pair of Paige (from Nordstrom Rack-the one in Union Square always has a full rack of them). They do not change shape. A year+ later and they still fit the same. They were about $80 though, which sucks.

I just bought two different pairs of Levis from the outlet-their options are confusing, but once you understand all the variables it's actually really easy to follow what kind you want.

-Leg style-super skinny, skinny, straight, bootcut, flair
-Each of the above come in three rises: low, mid, and classic
-Each of the above come in 3 curves-which are basically how tight they are.

For the skinny jeans i decided to go down a size and have the "least" amount of curve. For straight legs I decided to do a mid curve in a bigger size. You kinda just have to play around with it and try on 389746823569423 combos until you find the one that works best.

  • The Gap is my favorite. They aren't all faded out, no holes, midrise, and dark blue. They are perfect! I bought two pairs and I will buy more from them next time. It's so hard to find perfect jeans and now I'm not a teenager I feel stupid for having extreme faded skinny leg jeans. I'm not a huge skinny girl fan though so I'm not sure if that matters. I love straight leg.

  • I am recently in love Lucky brand jeans, but at $99 a pair I currently am rocking my Banana Republic ones until I find a sale ;) ...I was able to get 2 pairs of shorts at Lucky on Memeorial day for $16 a pair when they were marked $79, so I have hope!!!
