Re: Why Not to take Pictures on a Railroad Bridge

  • Oops!

Side note: I can't stand this new trend of senior pictures being taken with a shotgun aimed at the camera with them looking down the scope.

I support gun ownership and all that but these pictures just bother me.

  • Good lord. Do you know how illegal that is? Trespassing for starters?
  • But what if trains are an oh so important part of your family?! (Please tell me someone else remembers that thread!)
I do remember this.  Didn't they want to drive something like an HOUR each way in between the ceremony and reception to take pictures with a particular train bridge?

If I remember correctly, she was convinced to do a first look at the train bridge.  Crisis averted.  Unless they got hit by a train.

  • LMAO I know exactly where that is!!!  I wonder if we share the same venue :P

ETA: This comment from the article is GOLD:

This is actually a pretty ingenius (sic) way to test your new husband or wife.
If they bolt without looking back, you know this is going to be a Kardashian wedding.

Ew, I haven't seen that.  One of the first rules of gun safety is to never point it at anything that you don't intend to shoot/kill.  So if they're pointing at the camera......

My dad has worked with trains for over 30 years and my grandma for years before that.  Obviously they're a big part of my life, but if I've learned anything from my papa about trains it's that trains always win. Unless they hit a tanker. Or a log truck. A log truck will turn an engine into swiss cheese.  People are stupid. :)

    Exactly.

Thanks. That's me. I'm glad to know how skewed this all is. And that you are looking forward to us being hit by a train.

By the way it's 20 mins to the bridge and we have clearance by the railroad on train schedule.

I don't know where you're getting this from. In fact, she said the opposite. I didn't read that particular sentence as sarcasm.

@LDay2014 How did I not remember that was you?  My point was that the mystery OP [you] actually changed the plan, the crisis was averted, and all was well.  Unless they got hit by a train in which case obviously, crisis not averted.  Of course I would never look forward to anybody getting hit by a train!!

    Thank you for the clarification.
Yes, I did change my plan in regards to the first look - and am very much looking forward to that.  In regards to the train thing - this isn't pinterest inspired, we had no idea it was a pinteresty thing when we decided to do it. And I didn't appreciate the tone of the post back then berating me for our choice of photo location But the trains rule our lives, and for us (not for everyone else) it is fitting that the railroad be incorporated into our wedding some way.

Everyone will be properly fed, watered, and hosted that day...our choice of photo location is nothing but our choice.  Doesn't have to be anyone else's.

I learned from the blunt posts about our timeline and altered my plan accordingly.
Thank you all for that.  And I'm sorry if I seem a little sensitive about this topic but there were some posts back in that thread that rubbed me the wrong way and upset me.

    Moving on...
