Sola Flowers!!!!! Are they a more cost effective option?

Hello Ladies!!!

My fiance and I have just set our wedding date and location, March 29th 2015. So my next step is to look into decoration ideas. I've done a little research and noticed that live flowers are kind of expensive for our budget (about 3k for reception, ceremony, and bridal party). So, I've looked into alternatives to live flowers and came across sola flowers. The sola flowers look really nice and almost real!!! Has anyone used sola flowers for their wedding? If so, were you able to save money?

OP - I looked at sola flowers because I wanted a keepsake bouquet and found that, at least on Etsy, they were moderately expensive. They would have cost more than DIYing all my real flowers.

We didn't use sola flowers, but we were able to get beautiful and very in expensive ones from a grocery store! Flowers for our bouquets and centerpieces cost $14, no joke. Baby's breath is great because you don't need a lot to keep vases full, and we used gladiolas ranging in shade between lavendar and white. 

I don't have a photo of the bouquet (sadly), but here are the centerpieces!

saveoncrafts.com has sales and sells them. they are beautiful, but keep in mind that you may need a lot of them. perhaps some real and some solas mixed would be nice. you could also get baby's breath and have a florist spray them in another color (or you could do that yourself).
