Bridezilla Stories

Because we all have them.

True story learned over the weekend:  Polly is a BM Mary's wedding coming up in about a month. Polly just learned that she has a health condition that may require surgery on her brain. The condition is treatable but the procedure will likely be soon and is scary. Polly told Mary there is a chance she will not be able to be in the wedding due to the surgery. Mary's response is "Ok, well send your BM dress to Fay so that she can take your place." Polly says she probably won't be friends with Mary anymore.

    I posted this months ago

It was one of my friends from high school. It was decorated mostly cute (it had lace and burlap, though) and the food was really good. They ran out of food right after my table went up. They assigned seats with all random people so we would get to know everyone better. Everyone just ignored that and sat with who they wanted. They forgot several table's worth of seats and a lot of people had to stand in the back. They didn't get food anyway, because it ran out by then. Also, they had this weird thing where they made all 300 people sit and watch the B+G play jeopardy and the wedding party dance. We were so far away that we couldn't hear, so we decided to chat at our table. Everyone in the back got called out for talking and not paying attention by the bride's mom. It was literally 3 hours of sitting there watching them do various games before a few of our friends went up to make a song request, thinking they could dance soon. The DJ said there were a lot more activities they were going to do so my group left to go home.

Also, you weren't considered a legit couple unless you were married, and people were invited without fiances and sig. others. They were relationship judges.

I got a thank you from the shower that only says, "Thank you for the stuff."

We weren't allowed to get up and leave after the ceremony. We were dismissed by isles so the B+G could see everyone. Luckily, there was a slideshow of all their pics for us to watch while we waited to be let out of the church. I like receiving lines way better. This was the only time they bothered talking to any of us lesser people.

They wanted to kick out a bridesmaid for having funky hair and getting a tattoo without their permission.

No thank you for the wedding gift yet.

  • Daaaaaaamn. My sister had 2 BMs drop out for different reasons. She boasted that she was SO glad that she had backup bridesmaids. I just don't get it.

It must have to do with even sides. Which is dumb. It's certainly not the thing to be concerned about when your friend tells you she has to have brain surgery. "Polly" is my FSIL and we are concerned for her right now. The only good thing is that the BM situation caused us some comic relief as we all stopped to laugh at the bridezilla.

Yep, it was about even sides. Which I think is DUMB.
  • One time a friend of mine had to keep harassing one guest (an old mutual friend) for her RSVP- until she finally said she was coming 2 days before the wedding.

She showed up late (walked in front of the bride, interrupting the processional), left before the food was even served (yeah, bride paid for you and your family) and then left the bride a card that had the entire inside and back covered in a weepy letter about how HURT she was to not be the MOH.

This was given that her family had one income, they lived four states away, she wouldn't leave her baby for a second, and she openly and constantly reiterated how she didn't like the FI and she thought the secular marriage was immoral and wrong.
  • Sending out internet good vibes and wishes for your FSIL.  I hope everything goes very well for her.

Nothing I witnessed personally, but my florist (who was also a friend of the family) told me a doozy about a different wedding.  It was an hour or so before the ceremony and she (my florist) was decorating the entrance to the church.  She witnessed that bride literally throwing a screaming tantrum because the Sharpie for her guestbook was not the right "thickness".

Wow. Just wow. I wish people like that took the time for some self-reflection. But they never do.
