Bridesmaids dresses, which one?

We've been looking at BM dresses and all three of my BMs like all of these dresses. They all say the first two are their favourite (in the first picture), but they would wear any of them. We'd be getting them in the pale pink/blush colour. My dress is attached also... My moms concern is that the long pink dress in the first photo will "take away" from my dress. Is the long one in the first picture too much? What does everybody think?

Re: Bridesmaids dresses, which one?

  • Very pretty dresses! I wouldn't worry about the long pink dress taking away from your dress. They're so different and your dress stands out more from all of these dresses. I like the long dresses personally, it compliments your dress better in my opinion.

  • It definitely doesn't take away!  And I vote long, I like it better - and also just like the look of long dresses MUCH better than short ones.
  • I definitely don't agree with your mom that long dresses will take away from yours. No way!

However, I don't like the long dresses. I think it looks like someone tacked fabric to the bottom of a short dress to make it long. Not in a mean way, but I don't think it looks very high quality at all. If this is the only long option, I'd go with the short dress.

  • I definitely like the long better. The short dress looks like something I could wear to work with a cardigan. I do think that the crisscross ruching is too similar to your dress - not that it would detract from it, but just that it's too matchy matchy for my taste. I like the last one best.

  • I think the long dress is way prettier.  You're mom's fretting over nothing.  It definitely won't take away from you.

Exactly this. I would like the longer dresses if it wasn't such an abrupt transition.

I agree with this. Short for the win!

  • Thank you everyone! I love the long dresses also... I know some have mentioned that they don't like the fabric transition at the bottom, but I thought they looked beautiful on my BMs. I had gone in thinking the short one would be it... But was swayed once I saw the long ones :). Thanks for the reassurance that my mom is just fretting over nothing. I'm now debating between the long pink in the first picture or the purple long dress... Decisions decision. Thanks again!
  • Definitely the second set. The pink is very pretty although I'm biased bcz my BM dress is blush I just think it's so romantic. Your dress is amazing nothing could take away anything from that dress. Either color will be perfect but my preference will always be blush or any light shade of pink.
  • I like the first set best. I don't think any of them take away from your dress. Your dress clearly has more detailing.
  • Those dresses definitely wouldn't take away or compete with your dress.  However, I dislike all the long ones because they look like short ones that has a skirt sewn on/like two pieces.
