Hangover Food

Re: Hangover Food

  • McDonald's sausage biscuit with 2 hashbrowns and an orange juice OR pho... as in the biggest bowl I can order...
  • Sausage biscuit (no cheese or egg, just sausage patty and a nice greasy, buttery biscuit), hashbrown, and a fountain Coke form McDonalds always does the trick for me.
  • I've never been hung over in my life. I do enjoy drinking on the weekend but I've just never experienced a hangover. However, if it were to ever happen I would break out the Ramen noodles and pump so much water into my system.

  • I'll have pickles. Anyting fermented like kimchi or something is supposed to help and I find it works for me. Otherwise a good chicken burger with cheese would be all I need.
FI thinks I'm horrible for searching out pickles while hungover! I think they're best with a greasy breakfast-- I've been known to go for greasy burgers or a heavy breakfast and ask for a bowl of pickles on the side.

Kimchi is one of the greatest foods ever created.

FI believes that menudo fixes hangovers like nothing else.
My FI thinks the same but doesn't it work wonders?! Yes definitely with a greasy breakfast but every time I feel nauseous I reach for pickles and I swear I feel so much better after!

I've never been hung over either. I space out every drink with a glass of water, then have 2 advil and a glass of water before bed if I think I'm going to need it. Works like a charm.

  • McDonalds - anything from McDonalds, but I HAVE to have Pepsi to drink with it

Which sucks because that means an extra trip. But it has to happen.

  • I normally drink a ton of water. If I am planning on drinking heavily I might buy and throw a Gatorade in the fridge. Every time I'm drinking I crave biscuits and gravy and that's what I eat in the morning if I get the chance.

  • I have been eathing nothing but oatmeal in the hospital. This thread has made me having some serious greasy food cravings.

  • I just ate three pieces of spicy perogy pizza to combat my champagne hangover. It's my very favourite hangover choice.

Have you ever thrown milk up? It comes back up curdled and chunky :(

I have... it was one giant chunk. But it only made me swear off lemon drops, not milk! :)

How do y'all eat so many eggs when you're hungover?  I'm a fan chicken biscuits and hash brown tots with a big coke from Chickfila.  Or hash browns with a waffle and chocolate milk from Waffle House.
Eggs contain some substance that helps breakdown hangover causing toxins. And also, I eat eggs everyday and love them. I couldn't imagine drinking milk hungover, mostly because I don't drink milk that much. But the thought of milk coming back up makes me want to vomit.
Interesting.  You learn something new everyday :)

I must be a freak of nature because eggs make me super pukey, but milk settles my stomach.

It's kind of the best thing. @lolo883 There must be a BP in Windsor, that would be worth your drive!

My hangover food is cold poutine. I inevitably get it at 3am while carrying my heels, and eat a bite then put it in the fridge. Something magical happens in those 7h, and it makes all the 'ugh' go away.

Dude, I'll have poutine anytime. I swear. I have yet to find a place in London that makes actual Canadian poutines. So far zero.

Yeah I agree. The thought of eggs when I'm hungover is too much. But milk is so nice. It like, coats the inside of my stomach and makes the yuck feeling go away.

  • I've never been hungover even though I was a very heavy drinker in college. I would have to nurse friends' hangovers so it was either anything from a diner or anything off page 2 of this menu (CLICKY) with lots of water and either Gatorade or Pedialyte.

  • Bojangles.

Cajun Filet Biscuit with cheese, combo: seasoned fries and a sweet tea. Fixes me every time.

@inkdancer This sounds way too responsible...did you do this when you were 21 years old? Because we surely did not at my college, we drank our faces off without regard for our bodies or the next day ;)

I was actually much better about doing this in college than I was when I got a little older... I was super cautious about my drunkenness and my surroundings in college and never got superwasted or hungover (I was always the one making fried egg sandwiches or mac and cheese for my roommates when we got home from the bar)... but once I got older it's like I forgot the steps I had taken to PREVENT that hangover and somehow just thought I was some mystical creature with hangover immunity. That led to too much jager which led to puking at church. Or I'd space out my martinis with a 7&7. Whoopsie.

  • You could also try this trick to avoid the hangover in the first place...

Jim Koch (Boston Beer i.e. Sam Adams) tells how he drinks frequently without getting drunk.

After the one time I drank 17 shots in a row and barfed for 6 hours, I have always always done this.

  • Fountain coke all the way. . . . 7-11 or Mcdonalds is the best.

Whenever we go to my friend's nightclub we stop at the diner on the way home at 3 or 4 am for something called a "gizmo."  Basically its a grilled cheese with bacon on a plain bagel served with a side of brown gravy and fries. . . . . It is the most delicious thing on the planet!

  • Chipotle (especially their guac, don't know why) and/or a Bloody Mary with a stick of cured meats/cheese and a big pickle spear.   Works wonders.

I'm 23 and I've been doing this since I started drinking. I always drink a lot of water and make sure I don't get out of hand. I've gotten sick and thrown up while drunk, but never a hangover for some odd reason.

Give it time young one...At 23, I had probably maybe been mildly hungover twice- at 30 sometimes I can have 2 glasses of wine at dinner and have a headache the next day. But let's face it - who has 2 glasses of wine when you can finish off the bottle? :-)

We're rockstars in our house. Wake up a lot of Saturday and Sunday to Bloody Mary's. Zing Zang's makes the best mix! And if a bar does it right - a show of Guinness in a Bloody Mary makes it amazing! We keep a large array of pickled veg in the house to go with said Bloody Mary. My favorite right now is spicy pickled green bean and spicy pickled garlic!

Go to foods - macaroni and cheese, waffle house (eggs and hashbrowns - smothered, covered, peppered with a cup of coffee and a water), eggs benedict, nachos, cheese fries with ranch or if all else fails...and it's football season...

A shot of goldschlager and greasy food, football watching and a few more drinks!
