Halloween plans

Re: Halloween plans

  • We don't get any trick-or-treaters either.  FI and I take his kids to a trunk-or-treat at the drive-in movie.  They have a costume parade for the kids, a hay ride, and then they show a kid-friendly movie (this year is Monsters University).

Last year, FI dressed as a hockey player and I dressed as Holly Golightly because we decided at the last minute to go and had to scramble around to put together a costume. I have no idea what we'll be this year but future step-daughter really wants to wear a poodle skirt so that might be our "theme."

  • Oh, hell, I think this Halloween will be my first good dose of empty nest syndrome.
Really none of my friends do the costume party or going to bars thing, anymore.
Moose is going out and about with his friends....haunted corn maze followed by Rocky Horror Show.
So first Halloween I'll be completely alone. So odd. Typically, I put on a witch costume and wait for trick or treaters, but I think I should do something more this year.
Dinner parties are fun, but a lot of work. I'll have to think deeply about this one.
  • Some good friends of ours host a Halloween party every year.  This year, DH and I will be going as Cards Against Humanity Cards - one black card and one white.  Costume should be pretty easy, black or white clothes and a black or white poster board with a "question" or "answer" written on it.  Now we just have to figure out which question and answer to put on the cards...

  • I got invited to a halloween party some friends are throwing, which should be fun. Although that does kinda mean I have to figure out a costume. I really would love to track down a cool batgirl costume based off the one in batman the animated series, but then I'll just get quizzed on batman trivia that I won't know because there is just so much to know and so many different plots going on in the comic book universe that of course I don't have them all memorized. I love batman, I watch the series, I watch lots of justice league stuff, I watch whatever movies I get my hands on, I've read some comics, but I just know I'm going to immediately get written off as a "fake geek" for being a girl that is interested in comics and couldn't say off the top of her head what the joker said in panel five of issue 198. Pisses me off, because really, even if I never saw anything batman related and just saw the costume, thought it was cool, and became interested in the character that way, so what. Let me like a thing. Who named you gatekeeper of the fucking fandom
Oh, who cares?  Do all the 3-year olds dressed as spiderman fully understand his history?  Seriously just wear the costume (I'm willing to post pics of my most awesome batgirl get up EVA if it makes you feel better), and fuck the people who are judging you for it.

Do you have a particular friend in mind that would be this way?  I am confident nobody in my friend group would ever question a costume, so if you do have friends like that, maybe it's time to cut them out!
Oh if you're a boy you don't need to know any trivia to "Prove you're a real fan."  It's just if you're a girl.  *angry eye twitch*

I know a few friends who will be there, and they're hosting so they invited me.  THEY are wonderful and I'd feel comfortable wearing it in front of them.  They're just some of those people that are great themselves, but tend to hang around some pretty douchey people, and also gravitate towards geeks/nerds a lot.  Nerds are fine, but douchey nerds are awful.  They will stop you at a con to bitch about your cosplay, they will complain about any girl who says they like geeky things, they're just fucking horrible.  I know for a fact they know plenty of people like that.

I 100% agree with you that it's insanely stupid and that those people really need to fuck off.  I'm just not really sure if I feel like even dealing with that bullshit when I'm trying to have fun, or dealing with the drama of yelling at someone's buddy in front of them (Because that would absolutely become me shouting at someone to go fuck themselves)  Still, I am leaning toward it. I really like batman and I really do want to own a cool superhero costume.

Maybe I'll have FI teach me some moves so when people ask if I "Know" batgirl, I can say "Bitch, I AM batgirl" and flip them or something.

  • Our venue is having a Halloween party that I want to go to, but I don't know if FI would do it.  I'm not sure if his daughter is going out trick-or-treating or not yet (she's 14 so this may be the last of that!).

Otherwise I guess we'll dress up and hand out candy.  I have a with costume and he's got a vampire prince one.

  • I love seeing everyone's Halloween plans and costume ideas! We haven't dressed up the last few years because we haven't gone out or done anything for Halloween. Our rehearsal dinner is on Halloween this year, so I guess we escape the pressure of having to come up with a costume for another year.
  • I love Halloween (my birthday is a few days before hand), this year our friends are throwing their annual party on Halloween. So it's very exciting. Lots of food, lots of booze. No idea what to dress as yet though.

LOVE the Frizz though! I still might watch the show when it comes on maybe....I totally do.

We LOVE Halloween! Every year we get dressed up and hand out candy and attend the Halloween party at our local bar. FI has won best costume 3 years in a row! He always ends up gluing shit to his face - like this.

BUT no prosthetics for him this year- I told him he's not allowed to glue shit to his face - it's the night before our wedding!! So - we're having our rehearsal dinner catered in at our home during trick or treat. We're tenting off our driveway and having a costume party! I can't wait! He found an "undead groom" costume he's going to wear and I think I may be a zombie bride!
  • I love Halloween! Every year I try to get us couples costumes but I fail every time. FI just doesn't like any of my ideas. Which I don't know why since I've won a few contests!
  • I LOVE Halloween! IDK what we are dressing up as this year. Last year I dressed up as Kelly Kapowski - I wore floral jeans, white sneakers, a Bayside High sweatshirt, I made a big heart-shaped cardboard necklace that said ZACK on it (from that episode where he puts subliminal messages in everyone's Paul Revere tapes), and I had bangs which I teased out. I wanted FI to dress up as Slater, he would have been perfect, but he just HAD to dress up as Heisenberg.

I need to wait until the inspiration hits me this year!

  • My best friend is having a Halloween party and I can't wait. Going pretty random this year and thinking I am going to be purple grapes and H can be green grapes (saw someone that was purple grapes on that show "let's make a deal" and like it!) Inspiration below;

That is so cute! I'm always on the lookout for non-sexy ideas and that's a great one. I have a friend who went as a bath puff/loofah (you know, the net ones) a couple years ago and it was kind of similar and awesome.

  • I will likely be working at the winery right around Halloween. We always dress up the Saturday before during work, then have a party when the place closes.  Any costume ideas?  Something along the wine theme would be fun.

It's often chilly, and occasionally I work outside.

Must be able to move and serve drinks in it, no face mask

A little sexy is ok. . . .  couldnt' hurt my tip jar, lol

  • I totally want to be a bottle of wine now! Maybe I can figure out how to get our label on it. That would be a riot. The owner would love it!

  • I told Fi last night that I really want to be Michelle Duggar.  He got grumpy and said that isn't sexy enough.

... idk, Fi, the Duggars sure know they sexsaytimes.

"I'm not a rude bitch.  I'm ten rude bitches in a large coat."

  • Great, now I have been researching DIY halloween costumes for the past hour.  I would also love to be a loofah.  DH can be a bar or soap or wear his bathrobe, which almost seems dirtier to me. . . . . watch, i'll get a few drinks in me and start shimmying on him in public!

Totally sexy. Show up looking normal, then pull him into a broom closet and when you come out, there's a beach ball under your dress. 10 minutes later take out the ball and carry around a baby. Pull him into the broom closet and BOOM, beach ball is back. Repeat.
    Also now this is me.

  • I love Halloween but with the wedding, our costume budget is really low. We really wanted to do costumes that go together though so we're doing Pooh Bear and Piglet. Really, just the ears for both of us, a red shirt for him, a pink dress for me, and some make up. Next year, we'll do something cooler. :)

  • I'm going to be representing the sheriff's department at the trunk and treat so I have to be "appropriate."

I'm going to DIY and be a bag of jelly beans with balloons.

This year, I'm going as a plague doctor (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plague_doctor_costume#mediaviewer/File:Paul_Fürst,_Der_Doctor_Schnabel_von_Rom_(Holländer_version).png)

So far, my costume is so creepy that BF has to leave the room when I try it all on together.

    ACK! I can see why!
