months v. years

I was just scrolling through facebook.  An acquaintance posted a picture of her little boy saying how excited she was that he was 33 months old.  Seriously!?  When does it end?  I can understand months up to a year.  I am even becoming slightly less annoyed with months up to 2 now that I have learned that there are legitimate milestones and differences in the months. . . . but come on.  I am waiting for the "baby boy is 3565 months old today" post!

  • 23 months is the standard cut off.  Most normal people switch over to years on or before 2 years old.

    I would also side-eye 33 month comment.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • I think I stopped that at 18 months. I agree, it is so damn annoying.
  • Guys I just turned 318 months. Can't wait for 319!

  • I can handle up to 2 years, but most people I know stop after 18 mo and just say "one and a half" or "almost 2."

I'll be 374 months old tomorrow!

  • Yea I don't really understand that. It seems like they don't want their kid to grow up and want to keep viewing them as a baby. Weird.

I have now been introduced to STFUparents and it is AMAZEBALLS!!!  It all makes sense now, because the mom I am referring to could be the culprit in about 93% of the posts I just saw on there!

I follow STFUparents on FB and it's hilarious to see their posts intermingled among all the mommy posts on my newsfeed.
  • Yikes- I read that like those annoying couples that post their 6 month "anniversary"...
  • LMAO we just had this conversation at home.  I don't feel comfortable counting past 18 months.  I'd just switch to "A year and a half" or "A over a year" or "Almost 2" or something.

33 months makes me side eye so hard.

  • It'd like they wanna make their kid sound older or something. 1 is one 2 is 2 and 3 is definitely 3. I guess I'm 337 months old.

  • Once you hit one you stop with the months bullshit.  You are one until your birthday and then you are two and so on and so on.

And I turned 360 months old at the end of August. Woo to a new decade!

DH and I do this . . . but only with each other. We never post about that kind of stuff on FB because no one cares but us.

    I'm 340 months.

    That's a big milestone.

  • OMG! I am:

        412 months old
        or  1,793 weeks old
        or  12,557 days old
        or  301,368 hours old
        or  18,082,013 minutes old
        or  1,084,920,737 seconds old

If/when I have kids, I'm totally going to post this on Facebook at least once a week!

Luckily, I don't have anyone too bad on my Facebook page. But, I severely limit who I allow as friends and only have 30 or so people on there... I even decline friend requests from family if I have no interest in hearing about their daily lives. There are some kid pics, but nobody too annoying.  Most only post something kid related every couple weeks. I have one that had a baby over summer that posts nearly every day, but it hasn't been TOO annoying yet. Although, there was recently a "baby found her feet" post, that makes me wonder if I'll have to hear every little milestone, which could get old quickly.
