Save the Dates

Re: Save the Dates

  • Sorry for the long post. My fiancee is close to her aunts and uncles. On the other hand, I haven't seen/talked to some of mine in a few years. Totally different dynamic on my side of the family. I have to address these based on the info I currently have. 1. Uncle "Tim" is divorced, has a girlfriend that I've met several times. She's invited to the wedding, assuming they are still an item but there's no easy way for me to know that. You need to find that information out.  Call him and ask if he's still seeing someone, and if so get her full name.  So do I go with: Mr. Tim Smith and Guest, Uncle Tim and Guest, Uncle Tim, Mr. Tim Smith, or something else? You need to invite his gf by name.  Would I ever include her name if I'm not 100% sure of their status? That's why it's your job to ascertain his relationship status.  2. Uncle "Tom", whom I haven't seen in a decade or so (only spoken to over the phone around holidays), is recently separated, not divorced, from his wife and living on his own (it's amazing what you find out when you start digging for addresses!). Do I go with Uncle Tom? Mr. Tom Jones? Uncle Tom and Guest? Mr. Tom Jones and Guest? Just because he's separated, I don't want to make it seem like he must come alone... who knows what the relationship status will be come wedding time. 3. For a distant aunt and uncle with a kid in college, can I just do one "Smith Family" envelope? Everyone 18 and over should get their own invitation.  I'd be surprised if the whole family flew across the country, let alone if the kid brought a date, to a not-close relative's wedding. I just don't know when it's appropriate to call someone "Uncle" or when they are "Mr. _____" on the envelope, how to handle the uncertainty of a guest/guest's name, or how to handle "distant" cousins.

  • What's going on with all these DDs on the I & P board, lately? OP, it's considered rude to delete your question after someone has taken the time to answer.

  • For you OP:

  • OP, you're really so lazy that you freaked out at being told that you need to actually find out whether or not Uncle Whatever is dating someone and what her name is?  That's really sad.

  • What a weird DD.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14
