I really love that 3rd hairstyle too! I might even do the scarf! It makes me want to cut my hair, cuz it's past my boobs now. Man... I wish I had a personal hairstylist for every morning. I'd be the cutest nurse everyone has ever seen.

"Up" is not a term known to my hair though. It's so thick and heavy, everything falls and is magically 6 times the size it was supposed to be.

That's my situation when it's longer. I got my hair done by a pro for my sister's wedding and at the trial the stylist told me "I will shellac it like crazy with hairspray on the day of, but honestly you should consider chopping off at least 4 inches if you want it to stay up all day."

I did. It still barely made it.

Haha that's why my hair ended up like this (1) and not this (2).

I love the ones @doeydo posted. Am I the only challenged one who cannot french braid?! I never learned how to do it on other people, nevermind myself. I was also going to say lots of headbands. I wear little thin ones the color of my hair so it controls crazies but doesn't look like a 5 year old in hot pink.
No lie: go get a doll and practice braiding on the doll. It's not actually that hard to master, provided you can practice on something or someone. Once you learn it by sight, your muscle memory will kick in and you'll be able to do it on yourself.

@inkdancer this is ridiculous but I don't even know where to start or what a french braid is supposed to look like. When my mom did mine for cheerleading she used to make a braid, then use that as the middle piece for the next layer. Then use that as the middle piece for the next layer. Yes this is totally wrong and it looked terrible hahahah

@maggie0829 At least you mastered the sock bun! I have a hard frigen time with that, it always ends up a giant knot that I "spread out" over the sock LOL

    I'm challenged too.
I can't do a bun or a sock bun. Not even sure if they are the same thing.

    I'd love to learn though.

A regular bun is super easy. Gather your hair as if into a ponytail (for extra security, you can actually put it in a ponytail). Then twist your ponytail until it naturally starts to coil. Wrap the ponytail around itself, and anchor it to your head with bobby pins. Voila, you are done.

My hair is naturally super curly. As in, Shirley Temple would have cried to have my hair. I had a chemical relaxer done two years ago- it helped smooth out the frizz and straightened it for a time, but subsequent growth, cuts, and lack of further relaxers have returned it to what's mostly it's normal state.

For curly/wavy girls who want straight hair- I use the Aveda smooth infusion line, including a new product that uses natural plant fibers to help smooth and straighten the hair follicles.

Funny story, I'm still learning how to use the hair dryer and hot rollers/curling irons (gotten good with the straightening iron).

I tried using them yesterday morning. First attempt/effort to make my hair look nice with blow drying followed by hot rollers resulted in hair looking like it belonged to a 70s porn star.  Second effort, results were the big hair of the late 80s and early 90s...a suit jacket with shoulder pads was all I needed.

    Cue the laughter.

Soo in theory two more times will get you into the 2010s??? :D

I don't like curlers or curling irons. I don't see the point - I actually get decent ringlets just from air-drying my hair.

I have rules for my hair. Don't sleep on it wet, don't brush it dry, and don't blow dry it unless you intend to straighten it. All three of those things make me look like I stuck a fork in an electric socket. Try not to stick it in a ponytail wet, because it makes it look greasier than necessary. Under no circumstances should it be straightened and then rained on.

Hopefully tomorrow the blow-drying rule can be changed. I bought my first round blow-dryer brush today.

I love that 3rd hairstyle @doeydo! Yea I csnt really offer much advice either. I would probably just straighten it every day. Do you have a pic to show an example of what your hair looks like?

Ok, here's how I rolled last night. There is a secret thin tortoise shell headband in there which, believe it or not, is actually working to tamp some of the volume down. (it rained yesterday, rendering it even more poofy than usual). It's still got some wacky stuff going on on the sides, as you can see--I don't WANT it to flip out like that but it has a mind of its own.

Pics appear to be sideways. I have no idea how to flip em, sorry.
