What does 10" bouquet and 6" bouquet look like?

Hi there,
I'm having a destination wedding next year, and while I've been in and attended many weddings I've never paid attention to actual bouquet "size."  My bridesmaids will have 6 inch bouquets and mine will be 10 inches, or that's how the florist is charging me anyway, per size of bouquet.  The flowers I've requested are dahlias, hyrdrangeas, orchids, etc.  I'm just wondering if anyone knows how many stems of flowers would make up these bouquets, or how florists judge what a 6" or 10" bouquet looks like.  Thank you!

Re: What does 10" bouquet and 6" bouquet look like?

  • Well they judge the size based on measurement, not on how many stems it takes to make up the bouquet.  With dahlias and hydrangeas it won't take as many stems to make up a 6" bouquet as say if you were using say lily of the valley.

So to get a feel for what size your bouquets will be draw a 6" and 10" circle or look at a dinner plate and a salad plate.  Typically dinner plates are around 11-12" in diameter and salad/dessert plates are around 6-7" in diameter.
