Should I buy a steamer?

I'm starting to pack up the boxes to take to the hotel... Should I invest in a steamer? Did any of you use them the morning of your wedding? I'm getting ready at a hotel a few miles from my venue anyway so maybe I'll just get wrinkly again on the ride over and it will all be for naught. Just wondering what everyone else is thinking.

  • What material is your dress?

  • Uuuhhhh. I don't know. It's pretty thick though. So probably less wrinkly than some others?
  • I didn't need one.  My dress was fine (was steamed after alterations and then I brought it home and hung it in a spare room) .  Even now, 4 months after my wedding, I still haven't had it cleaned yet and it's sitting in the bag and isn't wrinkled, but I guess it would depend on material.   For my veil, which I ordered online, I hung it in the bathroom when I showered and all the wrinkles came out.
  • It's probably best to get your dress professionally steamed, especially if it's delicate material or has any pleats or anything. As long as you keep it hanging up in a dress bag, it should still be fine on the day of.

However, I use a steamer for my regular clothing and absolutely love it, so it's a great investment just to have one.
