Pink Sands Bahamas - Worth it?

Hello

For a couple years I have dreamt about going to the famous Pink Sands Beach in the Bahamas. I highly consider this place for my honeymoon maybe even a destination wedding.

Looking at the pictures of this beach always leaves me wondering if it’s worth going there. We are from Europe so vacationing in the Bahamas means a long flight + high costs. Obviously I am fixed on Pink Sands because of the soft blush colored sand but is the pink visible at all? Pictures show a huge difference and I am not sure how much pink is just photoshoped. It is a beautiful beach/area but (shame on me) I wouldn’t consider it if it wasn’t pink.

Has any of you bees ever been to Pink Sands? Maybe even attending a wedding there? How was your impression? Maybe you even have some pics for me?

  • Have you looked on TripAdvisor?  You can read reviews and see travelers photos....highly recommend if you haven't done already.
  • Yes I have checked there site. Reviews are pretty good and the pictures show a beautiful beach. But they don't really show any pink :) That's wh I am asking
  • The light has to hit the sand just right for the pink to come out. I have been to another "pink sand" beach in the South Pacific and while it was scenic, it was not blatantly pink.

  • Yes, it is pinkish, but the light makes a difference. It was interesting, but I wouldn't have considered it a reason to choose the Bahamas over another beach destination (although it was a lovely trip.)

  • I went for 1 day on a cruise and it was nice. There were like 8 other cruise ships that came in that day so it was crazy! We didn't book an excursion thinking there would be a beach we could just hang out on. We were wrong and ended up paying $80 each for a day pass to use the beach at the holiday inn. There are 700 island in the Bahamas so I'm sure there are less commercially parts. We were in Naussau which is the main port so I can't really speak for the rest of it. But as frequent tropical traveler if you want amazing beaches go to St. Croix! I just got back! We stayed at a little cottage in the rain forest, Little Fountain. It $60 a night and she will rent you car, they have an ice machine, coolers you can borrow. They have 2 rum factories, a million beaches, bars on the beach and the most spectacular views you'll ever see!!! For the price it would cost to go the Bahamas you could go to a lot of amazing places!!!
  • I went to the bahamas on a cruise when i was younger and i remember the sand feeling just incredible, nothing like any sand i'd felt before. i kind of remember little pink grains of sand when you picked up a handful, but the beach itself wasn't really PINK pink from what I remember.
