Name Changes

There was a thread a few days ago where lots of people were talking about changing their names.

I've changed "msstaticfancypants" to GladysAF.

I thought it would be good for those of us needing/wanting to make a change to put it in one place so that we know who was who and who we are now.

Sooo...how do we change it?  I was trying to find it in the settings, but I'm terrible at anything to do with technology.  Hence my lack of gifs on the boards.

Hover over your name at the top of the page and a drop-down will show. Click on "my account." Then you can click "change my username" at the next screen.

Oops, apparently I can't type. I'm now Gladyscf.

Also - I'm going to put my old name in my signature box as soon as I can get TK working again. It took me fifteen minutes just to change my damn avatar. 

Plus I'm still going to be Stitch (except for holidays).

I will also add my former signature to my name and keep my avatar the same for awhile.  I'll change it eventually after everyone is used to the new username.

You may treat us like newbs at first, but as long as we don't act stupid like some of them, there shouldn't be any real problems. You may just think there are a lot of brilliant, etiquette approved newbies coming all at once!

Oooh... can I start posting stupid "cash bar, 10 hour gap, I need help with my PPD wedding" posts, since nobody will realize it's me???  Nah, there's enough real posts about that crap without adding fake ones to it.

 

I've been wanting to get away from using my real name for a while... I figured that since everyone else was changing, I might as well make the change now too. Using my name wasn't so bad when I was just lurking for my wedding, but since I've stuck around, and occasionally post somewhat personal stuff, I'd rather have a more anonymous name.  I'll probably try to add "formerly known as" to bottom of my posts for a while to help with the confusion.

This is why I changed. I wasn't gonna be active on here, and then I got active. I didn't realize I could until beethery said something to falsara (eta fixed from cwradford... Oops, haha). CaitTDid is my Xbox name, though! You can friend me there! I don't play online much (read: ever) so I won't spam your xbox news feed!

My reason is pretty much the same as hellosweetie1015. I joined a while ago but never found the message boards until recently. My user name is super recognizeable for anyone who knows me IRL, so I decided to take advantage of being able to change it.

Mine is staying the same.  But honestly guys, if you're going to change your name, leave your avatar the same for awhile. It helps.  And sig too, that probably helps some people.  (I'm going to be the grumpy pants here and say that it doesn't help me because I block all signatures because I don't like to see constant flashing gifs as I read or have to scroll twice as far down the page because the sigs take up so much space.)

I want to change my username as well to get my first name out of it, but not sure what I'd change it to! Maybe the same name but change my first name to a nickname.
