Movies you watch when you're sick

DH and I are going to take care of my pregnant sister this weekend while her husband is OOT. She's having bad morning sickness and is pretty miserable. I'm taking movies for her to watch ... What do you watch when you're sick? I already packed Despicable Me since she nicknamed the baby "Gru" for now.

  • Ahhhh, Hocus Pocus! I DVRed that last week. I need to find it on DVD!
  • I'm sick too :( my blood sugar is way too high and I'm having a terrible time getting it down.. Somebody come watch movies with me too.. and give me a massage.. And bring Lots. Of. Water. Cuz it makes me so thirsty!

I really hope your sister gets over the morning sickness soon and feels better!

  • Love Actually, no shame there. I also revert back to teenagerdom and watch 90s teen movies like 10 Things I Hate About You, Can't Hardly Wait, Clueless...you get it.

  • When Harry met Sally! And while you were sleeping. 2 of my all time faves.

  • Disney everything. It is actually impossible to feel sorry for yourself about how crappy you feel when singing along to "Gaston" or "A Whole New World".

Funny you say that ... We are headed your way! She lives in FW.
  • Oh, ditto Love Actually and Disney. And Pride and Prejudice. Funny story about Winnie the Pooh - I was home sick with a dread disease when I was in high school, and decided to watch Winnie the Pooh in between bouts of coughing up my lungs. When Gopher popped up and kept saying 'I'm not in the book', I FINALLY REALIZED that he's not saying he's not in the phone book - he's actually saying he's not in A.A. Milne's books. I laughed so hard I started coughing, again.

    I LOVE Downtown Abbey!!
I'm glad to hear you love it! I am really excited to start watching!
  • Love Actually... it's the movie I watched the night before giving birth.  Holds all kinds of sentimental value.  But I'll go with some of my other favorites too:

    The Bodyguard
    Auntie Mame
    Mahogany
    Waiting to Exhale
Gloria (the original, NOT the one with Sharon Stone)
    Bridget Jones's Diary
    Dodgeball
    Team America World Police
    Now, Voyager
    Happiness is an inside job
  • Anything fluffy and feel-good that I've seen a hundred times so if I nod off I don't miss anything.

  • Harry Potter Marathon
    A Lot Like Love
    Now and Then
    Bridget Jones's Diary 1 and 2
    The Holiday

are some of them. I am into either never-ending marathons or feel-good happy movies.

  • Pirates of the Caribbean movies
    Harry Potter movies
    Labyrinth
    Secret Garden

Typically anything that I've seen a thousand times and wouldn't be sad if I dozed off and missed something.

Do it ASAP! Can't wait for FI to catch up on Season 3 so we can finally dive into Season 4. I like to wait for all episodes to be out so I can then binge watch them. As delicious as custard.

  • I love the 90's ones like everyone else- clueless, legally blonde

Will & Grace was my favorite show and I have all 8 seasons on dvd. So when I get a sick day or snow day I watch about one whole season of that. One time we had a blizzard for 2 days we couldn't leave the apartment (back when I lived with roommy not DH) and we watched 2 days straight of Nip/Tuck dvds.

    And Love Actually.

  • Mean Girls...that's my go to.

Thanks for the ideas!  Here's my list.  I hope she doesn't have all of them!image
  • Fried Green Tomatoes!

Also, A Christmas Story is my favorite movie of all time (I am ob-freaking-sessed with Christmas) so I watch that year-round.

  • I usually just put on whatever I can find. Which is why I keep my copy of Lilo and Stitch handy.

If I don't have it or another Disney movie nearby enough, I just turn on something. Princess Bride is also excellent.
