Stitch Fix?

So have any Knotties heard of this/used it? I think it's an interesting concept, similar to Glossybox. It would be interesting to get a few items from brands I might not normally buy. Thoughts?

Re: Stitch Fix?

  • I have absolutely no idea what either of those are - would you elaborate on it?

  • They are monthly subscription websites that send you clothing (Stitch Fix) or beauty products (Glossy Box). It's a monthly fee and you get a box full of goodies every month. With Stitch Fix you have the option to buy any of the 5 things they send you, and your $20 monthly fee goes to your purchase. And Glossy Box, you just keep all the things in there, if you want to buy more you usually get a percentage discount. It's a good way to try new beauty products, if you're into that.
  • I've heard from friends who have used and love it!
  • Loooooooove Stitchfix!! Did it for about 9 months & always ended up with at least 1item (often 2 or 3, though never the whole fix). I have it on hold during pregnancy, though (no maternity fixes).

  • Hmmm how much do the stitch fix items typically cost?

  • They say they average at $55.
  • It's 20 bucks a month for the "stylist" & then if you buy anything, the $20 goes toward the purchase. And if you buy the whole fix (5 items), then you get 25% off the total price. You fill out a pretty detailed profile before you start & the more specific detail you give about your preferred style, the better I find they do at matching taste. Price point is one of the details you can share. I choose right in the middle, and would say items ranged from $30 (summer tops, jewelry, scarves, etc) to $90 (jackets, jeans, etc).

  • Sounds a lot like the first one that came out like that, Birch Box. (www.birchbox.com) If you like beauty products then you should totally do these :) As a MUA I think you never have enough products!!!

  • I did one box! I really loved it, and kept everything in it... it definitely was expensive, but also really worth it. I haven't done another box only because I'm poor, though I REALLY want to. I think the entire thing cost me around $160ish? Minus the $20 for initial shipping and the discount you get if you buy the whole box.

  • Not something I would like.  I have a huge heart list on Modcloth and some things pinned to a board on Pinterest of stuff I want if/when i can afford it. For example, I usually get some money from my grandparents on gift giving occasions such as Christmas, and I spend it on a little something-something for myself.

I love that you can put the service on hold when funds are low &/or you're not in the market for new duds.

  • I haven't used it, but have friends who love it. It's a little too spendy for me - I'm a total bargain hunter when it comes to clothes.

I used to subscribe to Birch Box but had to put it on hold when every extra penny went to the wedding - it's back on now! Woo!
