NWR does anyone have hotel recs for Santa barbara / san francisco

We'll be back in Vegas for our second wedding anniversary next July then we're heading to San Francisco and Santa Barbara. Can anyone recommend good hotels in Santa barbara and San francisco? Vegas has spoiled us, nowhere else has rooms that are anywhere near as nice and they're twice the price! Location is key and I don't really want to pay more than £200 so around $300 a night. Any insights very much appreciated. We were thinking of four nights in San francisco and 3 in Santa Barbara. We'll have five nights in Vegas.

The fairmont in San Francisco is fabulous and in a great location but can be pricey. Sf also has lots of cute boutique hotels. Look into kimpton or joie de vivre hotels...
I also stayed in the hilton union square once but wasn't impressed

mandarin oriental, but not sure if they'll fall under $300/night.

I stayed in Hotel Union Square and I loved it!! Perfect location and can take the cable cars right down to the wharf. I found a deal on either living social or groupon, don't remember which one

The Double Tree in Santa Barbara is really nice and has a great location.  Walkable to the pier and state street.

We really like the Hyatt on Embarcadero. It's a waterfront hotel and some rooms have balconies with bay views. We are going back next month and staying there again.
