Re: Size of Wedding

  • Between 140-150. Hoping for 100. I gave lots of sick elderly family members and FH has all family living hours away and didn't go to either of his brothers weddings.
  • Probably 25-30 including us. It's a second marriage for us both. :)
  • Between 20-30. It has grown a bit more, since we announced our engagement. I am also a second marriage bride, but this is my FI's first marriage.

  • I wish i could manage anything that small. My family itself is a 30 person party at any given point.  Right now the list is at 240
  • My family and friends list is pretty small. Jon's on the other hand...not so much.

Right now I think we're around 130 and we're going to try to keep it that way.
  • Honestly, big or small, it's hard to figure out who gets an invite and who doesn't. I've already had one friend say "I'd love to come to the reception" because our ceremony venue limits the total to 25. Um... ok? And then another friend said "you can always create a 'B' list and invite those people as you get no's". Crazy. Party of many.

Mostly it's because we are going to Vegas. Plus we kind of want an intimate wedding. Though, I wouldn't call 30 ppl "intimate". Lol.

  • Probably around 250 when all is said and done, this is my FI's 1st marraige but my 2nd. I have a very large family, so that plus our bridal party and close friends is 175 alone... I am having trouble getting the FI to help with the guest list, LOL I am not sure who from his family he wants to invite! Hopefully can get him to help this weekend, I need to get the ball rolling on things!

  • We have a current guest list of 105, our projection is between 75-85 actual attendees. I have at least 10 people I KNOW won't make it, and then roughly 10 more you can always expect won't come. I believe the rule is expect 20% of your guest list will not attend.
  • Our Max is 150, so hoping 100-110 show.. but our venue holds like 500 so we should be good.. I forgot to ask the church how many it will hold...

  • So we let our extended family and friends know we are having a small Vegas wedding with only our immediate families and a few close friends...there are a lot of hurt feelings it seems, but what are you supposed to do? you can't cater to everyone. I had someone actually try to invite herself to my wedding, a former colleague...someone I am not close to. I explained to her that we have a set guest list. Then I get booed at. Sigh. Frankly, i don't want a large wedding anyhow...and neither does my fiance.

  • We finalized our guest list a couple of weeks ago and the official number is 60. We were aiming for 50, but then I remembered a few extra people.

  • @vegasbride2015 I'm pretty sure we're going to have hurt feelings too. We can only have 25 people at the ceremony site itself. We've had people say they don't mind not coming to the wedding but want to be there for the reception. We're firm in our numbers. The 25 includes the person marrying us, which fortunately is also a friend. Big or small someone is always going to get hurt by not being invited. It's amazing who feels like they're an automatic invite to such things. Where were they the rest of the year?? :P

Or the past few years. I'm learning quickly that people are only reliable when they want something.

Wanted to let you know - the rule is expect 100% of your guests will come...also plan for the "surprise" guests that weren't invited. There are all kinds of horror stories on here about guests unexpectedly bringing along someone under the impression that the invite extended to them.

Agreed!! That's been a lesson I've learned over the past few years myself.

  • I want to invite 150.  But our budget is making us scale back to 90. Hopefully that will change!
  • We are currently at about 125. My family is rather large and FI has quite the extended family. We're on a pretty tight budget so we're trying to cut as many as possible, as much as I hate to say it.
  • We are going to have around 120.  will be inviting closer to 140 but have a few out of towners that won't be able to make it

  • We are keeping our guest list at 70. Expecting 50-60 people. We are happy with our small, intimate venue!

  • Guest list is 175. Hoping for 150
  • Inviting roughly ~165, planning for ~120-125.

  • We're right around 200 including the kids - even babies.  Given half the guest list is from OOT, we're planning for 200, but it'll likely be around 175.

  • ohh the guest list! If we could invite EVERYONE it would be 220... but our venue only holds and we can only afford 160 people. So we cut cut and cut some more. We might do a B list for the no's we get back and I swear if people show up with guests, when guests aren't invited or sent in a no but still show up-- I will speak up.

  • We started off at 125, but the list might grow. Still debating whether to allow children or not... we originally didn't want to because we both have some very rambunctious children in our families (i.e., would probably cry and scream throughout the entire thing), but there are some children who we'd really like there (nieces, nephews, younger cousins). Anyone else having trouble with this? Suggestions?

  • @rusticbride27 FI and I are inviting our 2 nieces (we have no nephews yet) and all of our first cousins (which is quite a few kids). My mom's cousins' kids and people like that will not be invited, so we made the cut at the people we considered to be close family. We definitely had trouble with this because we do love kids, but if we allowed our cousins to bring their kids (none of our close cousins have kids, but other cousins do), then we felt like we would've had to invite the kids of everyone attending.
