Under the dress!

I bought my dress a couple weeks ago and have been trying to find some shape wear to wear under it. The dress is a-line and highlights my hourglass figure... Which I'm mostly pretty happy with! But, on my wedding day I want to wear some shape wear that will smooth down my stomach and make sure there are no lumps, bumps, and rolls. The only difficulty is that the dress has a low back - not backless but slightly lower than where a bra strap would be. I don't need shape wear with any kind of bra accoutrement because the shape of the dress holds me up fine there. The other thing is that it would be nice to find something that's at least slightly sexy and not just a tan colored girdle. Anyone have any brand suggestions or a similar situation that they have found a nice solution to.

Shapewear and sexy do not happen together. The sexiest you could get is to get a black piece of shapewear.

Personally, I think a pair of Spanx (or similar style) would work the best.  I have a pair that hits slightly above the waist and comes down to mid thigh.  it smooths out the tummy and love handles and also helps with preventing thigh chaffing.

Once back in your hotel room or wherever you plan to spend your wedding night you can simply switch out of the spanx and into something a bit more sexy for when your SO slips off your dress.

  • I am with Maggie on this one.  Spanx all the way!!!  Thats what I did.  Then I slid off the spanx before new hubby even knew I was wearing them.
  • There's shape wear that looks like a skirt and doesn't look quite as silly as regular spanx can, but I don't know how comfy it would be under your dress.
Slipping off the spanx like PP mentioned might be easiest.
  • One thing to be mindful of is spanx will add more bulk to you, so if your dress fits without them, you just want to make sure that it will still fit when you have your spanx on.  Spanx are designed to smooth, and not cinch the waist or minimize any areas.
