Wedding Timeline to accommodate Eastern timezone guests

Hi,

I've been getting such great info for all your posts but now I have a question of my own.  We are getting married April 4. The Saturday of Easter weekend.  All of our guests will be flying in from Toronto, likely the day before, possibly Thursday night.
As we try and plan our wedding, it occurred to us that not only will guests have a busy wedding day, but they will also have to deal with a 3 hr time difference.  We are planning to have ceremony, strip tour, dinner, suite after party.

As for the timeline, we can either:
1) ceremony around noon followed immediately by strip tour ending around 4pm, 2 hour break for guests to rest, 6pm dinner (2hrs?) followed by an in-suite party for cake cutting, first dance etc.
2) ceremony around 2 followed by strip tour, immediately to dinner and after-party - no break for guests to rest

So which is the better option?
Should we also consider that not all guests may be staying at the same hotel and with option 1 they will need to get themselves to the reception location from wherever they choose to "rest" or "not rest".

As the bride and groom, we are thinking we may like to have the opportunity to rest :)

Thanks so much to all!

Re: Wedding Timeline to accommodate Eastern timezone guests

  • I definently vote option 2! Remember rtheyll be coming from est so by the time strip tour ends, their internal clocks will still be three hours ahead, meaning dinner time!
We had the same thing and ended up moving our ceremony from 4 to 2, then strip your then dinner. We'll be eating dinner by 4:30 vegas time...
And side note, I kbow gaps are a hot issue but I think if you can avoid it you probably should try too

  • I would avoid having any gaps. I wouldn't know what to do with a gap - I'm all dressed up so I want to be kept busy/ entertained.
  • I say option 2. If I am staying dressed in the same attire for dinner etc., there is only so much "resting" I will do. I would be in it for the long haul and ready to celebrate. :)
  • No gaps. I hate sitting around in nice clothes while waiting for dinner and the party, and I don't need to "rest" after sitting through a wedding ceremony. If anything, I'm itching to move around.

2:00 will feel like 5:00, so everyone should be wide awake. Also, I'd rather go to a 2:00 wedding than a noon wedding since Vegas is sort of a "nighttime" city. Some people might be up late gambling the night before.

We had our ceremony at 4:00, cocktail hour from 4:30 - 5:30, dinner at 5:30, reception until people started leaving (around 9:00). After that, some of us decided to go bowling in our wedding finery. :)
