So I was recently invited to a Wedding shower for my fiancé's buddies fiancee. Hope that makes sense lol
The invitation tells me to bring a gift, what to wear, and that we will be "watching movies".... What?
It gets better.
She's throwing the shower for herself.
Its at 5 pm on a friday and there will be no substantial food... Which I find rude since this shower is at dinner time.
She's not even 21 yet.... I know I should give her some slack but I'm 22 and even I know better.
I will be leaving in an hour :)
be back later with updates

  • Oh there is more. she gave the invite to her fiancé who gave it to mine who gave it to me. She couldn't even spend postage on me or find me herself (we live in the same city).
Thank god my fiancé is side-eyeing this shower too. Love him!
  • Ah! Why are you going?! I repeat, you're way too nice.

  • What are you supposed to wear?

..wait. Is it actually a problem to do invites like that? I haven't, and wasn't planning on it, but I didn't realize it was a problem.
  • It sounds like you don't even know this girl. Why did you go?
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

To me it's a bit annoying. Not overly offensive, but it's like you're not worth a stamp or the tiny amount of time it takes to put something in the mailbox. If a traditional invite is being sent out, then it should be sent the traditional way; through the mail, especially if every other guest is getting their invite that way. (I mean unless you're just going around the office handing out invites to happy hour or something like that). Plus it's exciting to get something in the mail other than bills or credit card offers. But this is only my take on it. Other people might not care at all.

  • Okay heres what happened. I got there at 5 exactly (cause I'm weird like that) and they were already playing games. They were playing cards against humanity. Then when more people showed up, we had to play minute games. I was forced to put a cookie on my forehead and try to move it to my mouth. I'm sorry... I thought we were adults...? Im not against shower games, some can't be quite fun/funny/cute, but not games I played in elementary. The bride was on her phone most of the time, which was rude to me. If you are hosting ANY kind of gathering I feel like you need to entertain your guests. I was forced to watch Annabelle. Which is a horror/scary/possessed doll movie. I HATE horror movies. I get nightmares so easily. I attacked my poor fiancee in my sleep because I had a nightmare. The icing on the cake was I addressed my own thank you card... I forgot to put my apartment number so I doubt I'll even get it. She also kept calling my fiancee my boyfriend and that made me angry, personally, because she bites anyones head off when they do that to her (I got engaged before her). Im sure the last part is just me being a bitch but it didn't help her case lol I was also held hostage there for 4 and a half hours. Ugh.

Holy shitballa that sounds terrible. I'm sorry you had to endure that. Are you going to the wedding? I'm sure that'll be a circus.

In general I don't appreciate being treated as Fi's social secretary*, nor do I care for receiving invites 3rd hand through him. If someone wants me to come to something, they can invite me properly (like, even via email, if it's casual!).

*This drives me nuts because people tend to put me on a group invite email, assuming I'll pass the invite along to Fi/bring him along, and it happens so often that I find myself in the awkward position of having to ask, "so...is Fi invited or is this just the girls?" (aka, is he invited and you're just too lazy to cc him?). These are people who have his email, have his number. There's no excuse for automatically assuming we're a unit sometimes, but not all the time. Aaaand I realize I've derailed from the original question, so I'll see myself out...

Come back and answer this, @lolsenn !
  • She did pirate it lol, it was on putlocker.com
I stayed because she is my friend and because her fiancee is my fiancees good friend and I didn't want to create any rifts between them lol I know, such a lame excuse :(
  • If it counts, I will definitely not be going to anymore of her pre-wedding parties lol
  • If she throws a stag and doe run far, far away.

This is when an emergency fake phone call comes in handy.
