What did/will you walk down the isle to?

And what did/will you walk back to?

ATM we are thinking

Processional

Recessional

We are walking back with the misfits, and that part is clear and final. However, I'm not sure if it's awesome or lame to have the classic version to walk down to? I am also not sure which version of the classic version I like better, since The Drifters and Jay and the Americans are both so classic.

EDIT: FI loves old music and I love my punk music. I kind of love how the two versions kind of represent us.

Re: What did/will you walk down the isle to?

  • I walked down to "Storybook Love" from The Princess Bride (a classical guitar version) and back to "Best Day of My Life" by American Authors. All of our prelude and processional music was guitar instrumentals.

  • I think it is nice to have different versions of the same song for processional / recessional.

We haven't started thinking about the recessional but we were thinking / convinced on "At last" by Ella Fitzgerald for the processional, but now we are having doubts that it could either be really good or really really bad (we are having a garden ceremony and a band will be playing).

You might want to ask if they will send a video/recording of them doing that song. That sound coule easily be played and sung so badly.

  • I walked down to Zelda's Lullaby (I know, big surprise) I can't even tell you what we walked back up the aisle too.

Do what you like. If you and your FI can't decide, flip a coin :p

  • I walked down to a classical guitar version of Pachelbel's Canon in D by Michael Marc (you can find it on YouTube and we downloaded it from Amazon).

Our recessional was Best Day of My Life by American Authors.

  • I walked down the aisle to the intro from The Notebook. We walked back to the Vitamin String Quartet's version of Stolen (Dashboard Confessional).
  • The guys are walking down to a mellow bluegrass song. I'm walking to Donovan's "Try and Catch the Wind" and then we're walking back to the Beatle's "I've just seen a face"
    image
  • I am walking down the aisle to the Glasgow Love Theme from Love Actually.

Our recessional will probably be Modern Nature by Sondre Lerche. It plays at the wedding scene at the end of Dan In Real Life & I adore it.

  • I walked down the aisle to the Piano Guy's version of A Thousand Years. Our recessional song was By Your Side by Sade.

    Ahhhh! I love this!
  • I walked down the aisle to The Processional from The Sound of Music and the recessional was Trumpet Tune by Purcell.

    Anniversary

  • The entire bridal processional was to The Piano Guys' version of A Thousand Years. (Meaning, I didn't separate music for me from music for the bridesmaids.)

We walked out to Clare De Lune (I probably spelled that wrong)- the version from Ocean's Eleven when they're watching the Bellagio fountains at the very end of the movie.  Believe it's the Philadelphia Philharmonic?  Anywho.

  • Walking down the aisle is one of the things I'm not looking forward to at all. I just don't like that kind of attention. So picking the right song has been very difficult.

I'm thinking of I See the Light from Tangled, but not sure how weird I would feel walking down to a Disney song. There aren't many other songs I would consider.

Haven't figured out a song for the processional song yet,  I think the girls will walk to a song that's off a soundtrack, Probably LOTR, Old Friend is really pretty.

We know our recessional is the Indiana Jones Theme Song,  we like to point out the fact that life is an adventure.

  • You know when they say some wedding details fall out the window come game time? Yep, music was one of those details for us. Granted we had a pretty small shindig outside on the lake, so no DJ or sound system or anything, but we still forgot to charge the portable speaker so no processional music for us (…other than my nephews humming "here comes the bride" ;) ). Had we been on point, it would've been Feels Like Home by Edwina Hayes. Oops.

  • Neither of us are much into music, so I am hoping you all will have some ideas that inspire me!

I haven't even thought about any of this yet though... is this something I should be thinking about already??

I am a terrible wedding planner!

You have lots of time, especially since you and your FI aren't music people.  Me and FI have both played instruments basically all of our lives, so music for us has always been a big deal.  And its one of those things that I know we will have trouble agreeing on. So I've added in some extra time for us, just for the disagreements. We're very opposite in music taste.

You are not a horrible wedding planner.  You are fine.

  • We are still trying to pick a processional song, which we better do soon because we are 12 days away! Recessional-wise, we are walking out to "You Make My Dreams Come True" by Hall & Oates.

You probably don't need to think about it other than to let the music people know what music you want. So last minute is probably fine!

  • Is it weird that I want classical music for the recessional and refuse to dance down the aisle? I have a feeling FI isn't going to be happy when I tell him that...
    Wedding Countdown Ticker

  • Omg I did not even think of the Recessional song! Well for the processional, we are definitely walking down to Pachelbel's Canon in D (string version). Unless FI wants his GM next to him, we will probably have a GM escort a bridesmaid down the aisle, and we will walk down to the same song. I want to enter during the "flare up" of the song.

Recessional now I have no idea. Maybe Over the Rainbow by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole, or A Thousand Years. I'll have to discuss with FI.

  • I'm glad you started this thread because I really need to start thinking about it.

I know I am walking into Cannon in D played on an acoustic guitar. And I think we want to walk out to "Deeper than the Holler" on the acoustic as well.

My older brother is playing all of our music so I think I'm just going to let him pick for the music pre-ceremony, seating of mothers/grandmothers, groom/groomsmen, and bridesmaids.

My Principessa chose Puccini- O Mio Babbino Caro. Instrumental version. So incredibly lovely. When they were standing in front of the window with the sunset, it was very A Room With A View. I wept, of course.

    image
ETA: and just wept again, because picture with music. Too beautiful.

I'm pretty sure I don't even have "music people" yet... we booked the church, but haven't met with the minister to discuss any details.  We don't even have a start time!
