Cardbox?

I bought two rectangular paper mache boxes to stack and some purple satin to cover it. (And ivory ribbon and some fake peonies that I'm using on other stuff like the RB pillow.) I can't get the satin to stay on the box! I've tried spray glue, but the fabric is too heavy. A hot glue gun will leave the outline of the glue on the fabric, and I'm afraid most glue will do this.

Any ideas? I'm tempted to just scrap the satin idea and move on to paper. I'm a killer gift wrapper, I used to do it at Macy's back in the day when we still did that sort of thing, so I know it would turn out alright. I really love the sheen of the fabric though. Frown

Can you hot glue it in areas that you would then cover up with the ivory ribbon and peonies?

What kind of hot glue gun do you have?

I went all out when I bought mine and spent $10 on it to get the dual temperature one.  You can set it on high, which is great for most projects, or you can set it to low which is fantastic for working with fabric/ribbon... I used the low setting when I did my flower people baskets and you can't see the outline.

Also, if you try the hot glue gun with the lower temp... instead of doing a line down the box.. use dabs.  You wont get that weird funky line... and dabs/dots are MUCH less noticable.

If you're still scared of hot glue (and you can always use a small piece first to test it out...) try some double sided tape and fabric pins.

What about a fabric glue? I used it when I made felt daisies and glued them to a shirt for Halloween. They stayed on until I washed the shirt.
Otherwise I'm stumped. I was going to suggest staples but that probably wouldn't work -- or look nice!

Most of the time I just lurk here, but I had this same exact problem when I did my card box.  I ended up using some double sided sticky tape on the ribbon.  It works great!  I didn't do a continuous line of tape, but just did small pieces every once in a while.  It took a long time and lots of un-doing and re-doing but it eventually worked.

Hmm, I'll try the tape and maybe splruge for a nicer hot glue gun - not that my $4 one isn't lovely.

I use my hot glue gun for my hair fasinators and you can't tell at all... unless you know.. you pull them apart.

but like I said... give it a test run first...
