Need Thoughts and Prayers: NWR

Guys...

My best friend and MOH woke up with a spider bite yesterday morning... which turned into a large boil. So she went to the hospital, had it lanced and the doc thought it might be MRSA. He said if it didn't get better by this morning to go back and they'd have to do surgery to cut the infected tissue, and if it had reached the bone potentially amputate.

I am usually the calm, rational one but with my bestie on the other side of the country all by herself with the possibility of amputation hanging over her head, I'm freaking out. I had NO idea MRSA could act that fast!

Thoughts and prayers please my friends. And potentially cute GIFS to send her.

Oh no! I hope everything ends up ok for her. Hopefully maybe she just had an allergic reaction to the bite or something? Keep us posted! T&Ps!

I'm not a doctor, but I'm thinking they shouldn't have let her leave the hospital last night, so that as soon as the results came back positive for MRSA she could have had the surgery right away.  But that's just me.

For what it's worth, I had MRSA about 3 years ago and ended up ok. Your friend's case could be very different from mine, but what the doctors are suggesting seems very severe and I hope they at least started her on antibiotics if they suspect MRSA.

FINALLY heard from her... after I called her Mom, who also hadn't heard from her... so I called her office and they laughed at me for being so worried.  It was a different ER doc and he told her the first ER doc was a "cracker" and that there's nothing wrong and sent her home.  I told her to go to an ER on the island.

Well let us know if she's okay or not okay praying that she is and that this won't affect her health and time!
