Just for fun

This should probably go on the Attire board, but I thought more people would see it here. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/10/21/harry-potter-paper-bouquet_n_6022816.html?ncid=fcbklnkushpmg00000032. (Sorry, on the iPad and TK won't let me do the fun stuff!)

  • It a pretty bouquet, I don't think I could tear the pages out of my favorite books though.

  • That is really pretty! Though I agree with @bethsmiles I couldn't tear out pages of any book, let alone a favorite.

  • I like it.
I've seen bouquets with paper flowers and they are really well made and thoughtful. But I would never have thought to use my favorite book.

Now, I wouldn't go tearing the pages out of MY book. I would go buy extra copies. MY copy is too precious to do that too :)

  • I've seen these before and really like them but I don't like the fake flowers in this one. I'm considering doing this but with old textbooks that get trashed. The thought of ripping up books makes my heart break a little.

THIS. I would only consider doing this with books that are severely damaged already, because the idea of tearing into a perfectly good book makes me cry.

  • Oh cute! I might do this just for decoration!
  • I wanted to do this with sheet music! But I could never figure out how.
  • That's sosososo pretty, and just subtle enough that it could work with just about any wedding. I wish I had the old HP books I destroyed as a kid (reading them over and over until the binding completely fell off); I would TOTALLY do that with those. I couldn't do it to a perfectly good book though.

  • This is why it's good to check out library and garage sales as well as Goodwill or other thrift stores for supplies.
  • I don't understand the pearl clutching about book repurposing. Books aren't made to survive forever - the ideas/thoughts in the pages, maybe, but the actual physical pages and bindings, no.

Some of our best programs at the library are book art, where we repurpose books bound for the dumpster and do things like ornaments, wreaths, pumpkins, etc.

I don't get it either. We can't rip up a book but nobody bats an eye at thousands of paper packaging and receipts getting thrown away the second they are made.

It's not like harry potter is gone forever. It's on a million computers somewhere.
