Still need your wedding dress? Selling one

Hi ladies,
I don't know if this is against the knot rules, so if so, sorry!  I bought a BRAND NEW Mori Lee wedding dress (style 4912 in ivory) & then found out that we are adding to the family, so I won't be able to wear this style dress on our wedding day.  The boutique I got it from had it as a final sale because it was a size 6 and they generally only carry bigger sizes because there isn't a ton of space to have the same dress in multiple sizes at their location.

The dress is absolutely gorgeous & in it's original, unaltered state.  It is being professionally stored right now, so it is protected.  If you are still looking for your wedding dress or know someone who is, please comment & I can provide more details.  I'm looking to sell it for $950 or best offer.

This gorgeous dress deserves to be worn by a gorgeous bride (which I know you all are! :) ).  Thank you, ladies!

There is a Classified Board on this page to post things like that.  Also, you may want to try selling on tradesy.com, preownedweddingdresses.com, craigslist, or other used dress sites.

Just fyi I'm finding this dress at stores near me for that same price or less. Generally when selling pre-owned items you knock the price down, even if it's been used.

EDIT: Even if it's never been used.

Yeah, I googled it and one wedding salon had it for nearly $100 less.  You're probably not going to get all of your money back, and you'll have a better chance of selling if you reduce the price.

  • Hey, congrats on your growing family!

  • There is a decent wedding dress price calculator at: http://www.preownedweddingdresses.com/dresses/calculator

They do have option for pricing un-worn dresses.  I'm not sure of when you purchased it or original price you paid, but since other posters have said they can find the same dress for $950 at salon right now, I put in that value and it recommends sale price of $760.  So, you may want to check that site for realistic sale pricing. I know you hope to recover as much money as possible, but nobody will pay full price from private buyer when they could get it from store brand new.

  • Thank you, guys!  Great ideas :)
  • Congrats on your new addition! Depending on where you live, you may want to see if any bridal stores in your area do consignment - if so, I'm sure they'd be happy to take it off your hands, although they would take a cut from the selling price. Craigslist might also be a good option for finding a local buyer, especially if you're near a big metro area.
