What is your favorite soups?

For my winter wedding reception food I have decided to do chili and probably 2 or 3 different soups. I need to figure out what soups would be the best to fix and would love to know yalls favorites!

Tomato. Any bisque or cream based soup. Lemon chicken orzo from Panera.

I also like tomato, but would do something heavier with rice or noodles, if it's going to be a main entree

Chicken Gnocchi from Olive Garden. It's heavy enough to be considered a meal-soup instead of an appetizer-soup. I love that stuff. I could eat a gallon of it every day.

I think with chili as one choice, your other two should reflect a cream base and a broth base.

So, for cream:

Baked Potato Soup

Lobster Bisque

some type of chowder

etc.

And broth:

Vegetable Beef

Italian Wedding

Chicken Noodle

etc.

Love Italian wedding soup.

Think of things that smell nice together.  Do you really want chili, curry, and clam chowder together?  Probably not.  There are plenty of suggestions above that are less pungent--chicken with orzo, etc.

Is soup the main course?

Minestrone is hardy and can be made as a vegetarian option, baked potato soup (sorry vegetarians, this soup needs bacon or ham), pasta fagioli, clam chowder.

My favorites are pasta fagioli (veg friendly and can be made with GF pasta), tomato basil, leek & potato, corn chowder...

Creamy tomato (primarily from Panera Bread).

Is this your main entree?  If so, make sure to have some complimentary sides, such as cornbread for your chili (I also love eating chili over rice since it makes it a bit more substantial) and maybe grilled cheese for your tomato (if you choose to have tomato).

My favorite soups are all Mexican - posole, albondigas, tortilla soup.
