Little Mermaid Themed Wedding

Re: Little Mermaid Themed Wedding

  • Those deserts were adorable! I thought the BM outfits were cute too. By far not the worst Little Mermaid themed wedding we've seen. But the giant neon-red wig? No.

  • Agreed, definitely not the worst - but still super cheesy.

Has anyone seen the HUNGER GAMES theme weddings that have been popping up?  Seriously?  What would those invitations say?  Would i have to fight to the death for the buffet?

  • Get rid of the giant red wig and take the "seashell bras" off the shirts for the bridesmaids and I approve. Everything else was really quite pretty and not in your face Disney.

Honestly, if it hadn't been for the overdone outfits, I would have really liked it.  But the giant red wig?  No thanks.

@cafarrie, stuff like that frustrates me.  The whole point of the book is missed.  Sorry not sorry that I don't want my wedding to emulate brutal murder and oppression.

  • Also, who needs an arrow and moss cork necklace? That sounds like the dumbest favor ever.

Right?!  It makes me so irritated.
  • Fortunately, it wasn't a real wedding, just done with models. Because blergh.

Why can't the theme of a wedding just be "wedding"?

True, at least it wasn't real life but the fact that it's being advertised as a new and exciting theme is truly disappointing....

I'm with you though, what is the point of a "theme" other than "wedding"!!!

  • I'm only having a Hunger Games wedding if my fiance wears only a piece of glittery fishing net like Finnick.

OMG i did not even notice that their t-shirts had seashell bras printed on them. Ew. I take back what I said about their outfits being cute. Still think the skirts are cute but the shell bra thing is kind of embarrassing for them, I think :/

  • I absolutely love this. It's been posted to my Facebook wall three different times because of my love for TLM.

It's a photo shoot and not a real wedding but it was still cool to look at, imo.

  • I would judge the shit out of a hunger games wedding. Noooooo. Why do weddings need themes?

Weddings don't need a theme at all but when people insist on having them why do people have to choose horrible themes? Hunger Games, The Great Gatsby (this annoys me so much and I assume anyone who does it didn't read the book), The Little Mermaid - none of these are appropriate for a wedding.

  • Gross. I like the colored BM skirts being reminiscent of her sisters, the food, invitations, hell even the mani and dress. The rest of it needs to die in a fire, starting with the shell boob t-shirts. Why would you put your bridesmaids in t-shirts anyway?!

I don't know! Reminds me of how on Four Weddings they always complain about "the bride's theme colours weren't really represented well, so I'll give the overall experience a 6." Like...I didn't think it mattered to the enjoyment of a wedding?

  • Anyone ever read the Hans Christian Anderson version of The Little Mermaid?  It's a little less....umm..happily ever after.

I like her dress!  It's neat.  Nice pictures!  I just said to FI "Although I would enjoy going to this as a guest (as long as I don't have a seafood allergy heheh) planning this seems exhausting to me."

I could see myself scouring sites for that EXACT shade of this or that or the RIGHT kind of coral, blah blah blah.  I'd lose my mind.

  • At this point I'm just happy to see something that's not rustic and whimsical.

  • I am constantly reminded how much I fail as a bride.  I have no desire for centerpieces, bridesmaids, monogrammed anything..

However, I LOVE this effin' wedding.  I'm sure it's the little mermaid lover in me, and of course I've read the real story (spoiler alert the little mermaid kills herself) but obviously people are loving the Disney version of the 'happily ever after.'  Obviously I would never do this, but it's pretty adorable and I would love to attend this particular theme wedding..but please don't invite me to your hunger games wedding, I do not want to have to kill someone for my meal.

Funny story! I work in a daycare and we got that version of the little mermaid book, where she kills herself at the end. Miss Sophie had to do some improv!

  • Gosh, I don't know if I hate burlap or those sea shell bras more. And that flaming red wig...
