Finally have that engagement high!

It took about 5 weeks, but I'm finally there! We've got a number of vendors, my MOH wrote me the nicest card I've ever gotten for my birthday yesterday, I'm going to bridal expo this weekend with a bridesmaid and my mom, and the following week were going dress shopping and have our engagement shoot! I've got a lot of shopping ahead, and I'm excited! I'm thinking of treating myself to a massage or something else completely unnecessary to celebrate. Did you do anything? The next nine and a half months are ominously to be really fun!!

Re: Finally have that engagement high!

  • Man,  I had the high for about 3 days right after getting engaged, and this was back in December. We came back from our vacation where FI proposed and reality came crashing down upon me as I realized that no, I could not have drama free wedding planning.

I guess the waves of drama are ebbing, and I am actually starting to enjoy my wedding planning. I might stab at least 3-4 of my sisters and maybe one of the moms, plus this f'in photographer who drunk emails me daily. She's not even my photographer, and I told her I booked someone else. She still wants to meet up for drinks. WTF

  • Congrats on gettin 'er done!!  Getting started is the hardest part, I find, motivation wise.

I've been engaged since March 2013 but didn't feel any different.  I was on a high when we booked out venue in July 2013 and picked up little things like centerpiece items.  I FELT like a bride when we went to the bridal shows.

Now, I'm tired, excited, flighty, nervous, and just ready to get married.  I totally GOT THIS!

  • Yaaay. Youve done so much!!!!!!

I totally understand you on the engagement high. Because our engagement is so long (over 3 years) it really doesn't hit me that I'm getting married until I meet with a vendor or actually plan something for the wedding. It's making it really hard to motivate myself with some of my DIY projects.

Now that I'm getting into the time frame where we can actually book things it's making it feel more real.

  • All my big stuff took right about 6 weeks. It's nice to have that all rocked out so you can mess with any other variable things, isn't it?

  • I'm right there with you!  I had the high for a few days right when we got engaged, then when we picked our date and venue but now, it's been quiet for awhile (my parents were away and they are helping us/paying.)  This week I'm going dress shopping with my parents and MOH and my fiance and I are meeting a photographer, florist and band!  It's exciting, enjoy it!

  • @larrygaga omg so much drama! If you have to stab someone, I'd say go with FMIL. She sounds like a gem based on previous posts haha.

I love it, I can't wait to start our STDs, even though they won't go out until the end of February. Things, minus my own mom, have been going great. The only stress felt is by FMIL. She's stressed because no one else is stressed. Too funny!
