Oleg Cassini Tea Length gown CMK513

This dress is at  David Bridal

I'm debating this dress for my convalidation, but would like to have it shorten just a bit and have some of the Tulle remove it's just a bit too puffy for me, yet I'm worried it may not look right, wondering if anyone has done anything similar to it.

Thank you.

  • My understanding about convalidation is that it is not supposed to be treated like a "second wedding" at all and is only approved by the church in certain circumstances.  Other posters can be more help about that.
Regarding the dress itself, I am almost certain that a couple layers of tulle from the inside of the dress can be removed and de-puff it a little bit.  I have watched a lot of SYTTD and other bridal shows, and I have seen them have make dresses less poofy by doing the exact same thing.  How short were you thinking?  Like just below the knee?
    Or on it?

  • Not treating it as a 2nd wedding at all, but according to our Deacon I can a bridal gown if wanted. DH and I were married 10 years ago in a presbyterian church, I was raised Catholic, baptized and confirmed. Our 3 kiddos have been Baptized in the Catholic church, which has become a big part of our lives, DH have decided to convert to Catholicism this year, but prior to entering the church at the end of the month, they are demanding we have our marriage convalidated.

I only want to remove 1 or 2 inches off and make it right below the knee.  I'm 5'6 it's just a tad bit too long.

  • I think the dress is beautiful.  As long as your main focus is on the sacrament, you may wear a wedding dress or something simple, depending on your own taste, right?

We also had our marriage convalidated ten years after our wedding. After our third child was baptized, our pastor called us to his office to counsel us. He assisted my H in getting his prior marriage annulled. As soon as he received the decision from the tribunal, the priest set our date - which was the closest Sat : ) Our parents and children were our witnesses, no other guests. We all wore our Easter outfits and went out for pizza after the ceremony. It was perfect for us.
