Wedding Woes

Morning

How was the weekend?  Nothing much exciting here.  Did a little shopping, caught a raging head cold, got my period.  I just want to curl up with hot tea and watch tv.  Instead I'll be dragging ass to the treadmill, the library, and Costco.

Somehow November has gotten incredibly booked up with crap.

Re: Morning

  • Weekend was great.  BIL/SIL and DH's grandpa and his wife were in town.  We had everyone over for dinner Saturday night.  They all love the house.

DefConn has come down with something.  Fever, snotty mess, horrible cough.  We have no primary care doc, of course.  I'm going call a place up the street who's docs have decent reviews, plus they offer same day appts and see if I can get him in.  If not, I guess we're off to the minute clinic.
  • This weekend was great. The house is more or less done after DH busted ass on Friday finishing. DS did trick or treating and had a blast, then handed out candy with me for a bit. DD hated her costume and went to bed early. Saturday I cleaned all day and we got the downstairs (mostly) back in order. I have new dining room chairs coming so that we can finally use the table my parents gifted us. Sunday was more cleaning and relaxing. DD is teething (I think she's working on a total of 8 different teeth all in various stages of coming in) so she is not happy. At least she's a snuggler. Today I get to start my new project for work which makes me happy.
  • I forgot this part of my weekend.  DH took 6let to the Crew game Saturday.

  • Weekend was pretty mellow.  Grocery shopping on Saturday and some house cleaning.  Sunday was a lot of house winterizing and laundry, as usual.  We cooked up some good meals this weekend, including a shepherd's pie that was so yummy, but took forever!  We won't be doing that again, even though it's delicious.
  • Weekend was busy

TorT was icy cold winds, so it wasn't much. So we went back, had pizza and handed out candy, which DD was doing (quite generously)

Sat. was DDs Halloween carnival thingie. It was pretty tricked out this year. Got an entire cake from the cake walk. Hired a guy to make balloon animals and also do magic. Gotta admit, he was a pretty entertaining magician

Sunday, DH and I cashed in on our big present this year. We both got iPads. Which meant the rest of the night was spent getting it set up and getting all the iOS and system updates up and going so everything can play with each other.

DS's teeth are running our lives right now.  He's always been a good sleeper, but the past three nights, he's been up half a dozen times screaming his head off.  I'm getting ready to take him to the pedi to get his ears checked, but I'm 99% sure it's just his teeth.  He's been gnawing anything he can get his chubby little hands on, and last night when I was trying to rub Orajel on his gums, he bit the crap out of my finger.  He didn't draw blood, but it's still red this morning.  It's rough because he's always been so happy and cheerful (in the infant room, his nickname was Mr. Sunshine), and he's so crabby now that you can tell he's miserable.  I hope every last stupid tooth works its way out this week, but I'm probably more likely to win the lottery.

So, he was ill-tempered for ToT Friday night.  Pitched a fit in the wagon, flung himself backward, and hit the back of his head on the wagon.  Did not improve his spirits.  So I took him home, sent DH out with DD, and DS was happy to "help" hand out candy.  Mostly, he just wanted to take all of the candy out of his pumpkin, and put it all back in.  Repeatedly.  DD and DH just barely beat a cold front home, it started pouring 5 minutes after they returned.  Soccer was rained out Saturday, and it was chilly all weekend.

Took the kids to the amusement park yesterday, to avoid letting DD down two years in a row.  It was cold as fuck when we arrived, but warmed up quickly.  DD had a great time--she is a daredevil in training, and wanted to ride all the 52"+ rides even though it will be a few years before she's tall enough.  DS was able to ride some of the kiddie rides and loved them--he cried when the carousel stopped and I had to take him off his horse.  And now I can check that off our to-do list for this fall.

Off to the pedi, send us healthy ear vibes.

Wolverine is the same way - she's upset that she can't ride *everything.*
  • Weekend was kind of blah.  Friday was cute, lots of little ones ToTing in our neighborhood.  I know it's a bit ridiculous to bring a 2y.o. to my door, but I don't care and they're cute, so I'll give you candy.  yep.

Saturday was a bit of a mess.  H and I made time to have breakfast with my family then a very painful massage, followed up with---prepping for outdoor paint session on deck.  Then long run, followed by actual painting in the 35 degree weather...um, not smrt.  I laid low the rest of the evening---lazy.

Sunday was more running--followed by errands.  H and BIL sided the back of the house, which was great, because H was starting to get growly about how little progress has occurred on the house.  It's hard when you work non-normal hours and getting help is next to impossible.  So he accomplished something yesterday, and I then accomplished more by packing 6 boxes.  I'm starting to think about 40 boxes a week might be what we need to do.  That sounds crazy.  But I think it's necessary.  WHAT?!  *sigh*  I'm gonna end up packing H's stuff too, I just know it.

Back to the grind this week.
  • @ftrmrs0 -- don't forget to pack a separate bag for the first day:
toilet paper, shower curtain, soap and shampoo, towels, small cleaning stuff, kitchen stuff, paper plates and cups, and then a box cutter for opening boxes!

  • O, are you purging too?

  • When I packed the house for our move I just did a few boxes a day.  I'd set that as a little goal then once I got started I'd usually end up doing a lot more.  I packed the whole bloody house.

  • We did one big pack/purge before the house went on the market and we put a bunch of stuff in storage.  We packed here and there over the next month or two.  We started packing like crazy a couple weeks before our first closing date, and then didn't do much for about a month and then did a final push in the 2 weeks/weekends before we moved.  We still ended up throwing stuff in boxes as we were moving out, but it really wasn't that bad.  Doing it in small chunks is how I saved my sanity.

DefConn has bronchitis.  We had to go to the minute clinic, where they couldn't do anything because he's under 5 and then trekked back to our old primary care dr because I didn't want to take him to immediate care.  He's the most miserable I've ever seen him.  He's slept almost all day (thank goodness for long car rides).  He keeps puking from the coughing.  The doc said it's viral, so no abx...just fluids, ibuprofen, delsym, and cuddles.  They did do a chest x-ray.  She said it was clear, but was sending it to the hospital to be double checked.  She sent us home and said she'd call with the results.  I feel so damn bad for him.
  • NOLA, you know I am.  I am getting rid of things I either:

    a.  Can't remember wearing last
    b.  Wonder why I have it
    c.  It's old and crusty and I am not having a garage sale (makeup related)
    d.  It's H's and he won't miss it anyway (mostly kidding)
  • Poor DefConn.  That is the worst. I hope he feels better soon.
