Basically been running through my head all of yesterday and still today. Because holy fuck, I'm married.
Now before I give ya the story (I will, I will, just wait), fair warning, no pictures. Wifey (weird!) is very lets say odd about pictures on line as of right now has asked I don't share any. It's one of two things she's really steadfast on so I'm not gonna argue. Now onto the story!
Lets start with the rehearsal because...it was awesome. We got there a little before 5 to start doing some decorating and meet with our DOC to go over what he and his people would set up for us the next day and when they'd show up and everything. Most of our friends showed up around 6, we did some decorating but there wasn't too much to do so we mostly hung out and talked and had snacks. I like snacks.
At 7 our officiant shows up and we do a run through of what we're going to do the next day. She was awesome, she did it once telling everyone what we would do and then she's like "Ok, lets just do one quick dry run without direction and if we get it we're done" we got it, so she says "Alright, I feel confident for tomorrow, brides, how do you feel?" we felt good so we were done and headed to dinner. In less then 20 minutes. Because she didn't have us do any of the readings or vows just a "ok now here you'll say your bit, but we'll save that for tomorrow", made it go really fast. Plus ya know, we're all real good at walking straight lines.
Dinner was yummy and we were home by 10:30pm, some of our friends went out to party for Halloween but we decided to skip it and head home.
So next day, wedding day, yay! I woke up at fucking 7:00am. FI (she was still FI then!) wasn't even up yet! She always gets up before me! I laid in bed and watched TV until she woke up and then I asked her to make me coffee. Ok, so everyday she makes me coffee and brings it to me to wake me up. I was not going to spend our last day as fiances without doing our regular routine! I am not a princess, I can totally make my own coffee, I often do. But..it's our special thing! (I'll tell you guys the story there if you wanna hear it) So she did get up and make my coffee and bring it to me but I was so excitied about getting married I didn't stay in bed. She brought it to me at the kitchen counter.
We laid around until 10ish then got ready to go grab breakfast. Which was yummy (so much of my life focuses on food), I had biscuts and gravy and more coffee. We went and got our hair and nails done. Then we went to lunch, and we happened to go back to the same place we went for our rehersal dinner, the manager recognized us and gave us our lunch on the house as our wedding present! Free lunch! He also gave us vouchers for brunch the next day (we went and it was good).
I was really surprised but our entire wedding party showed up like 2 hours early to help us get ready or do whatever. We didn't really need them so...we all just hung around and had some snacks and drinks then the MUA showed up, made us pretty and we all got dressed.
Ok, finally ceremony. We all walked down in a straight line. Right before then FI walked down she turned around hugged and kissed me. And she says "Just wanted one more kiss before you become my wife" it was like...the sweetest thing ever. So she walks down with her dads, my folks walk me down, we all do real good at walk and my parents totally high fived each other! Like her dads gave her each a kiss, then then went and sat down, my parents kissed me and then high fived each other and went sat down. Of course if anyone was still wondering why I'm weird, I think that cleared it all up for them. It's gentic.
Officiant welcomes us and we do the whole ceremony thing. Nothing too exciting, during the unity cocktail someone went "Hell yeah!", no idea who and it made us laugh. FI's vows totally made me tear up, but only just a little. The best part was the end though. Our officiant says "It is now my greatest joy to pronounce you spiritually, and fucking legally married! Now kiss her!" and we did and then we turned around and she goes "I introduce, the newly legally wifed Fiona and Sophie!" and everyone fucking stood up and cheered and applauded and it was fanfuckingtastic. I think we only had a total of 103 people, but it seriously felt like a stadium full of people cheering. It was the coolest thing ever.
Afterwards we were signing the marriage certificate and I was watching her sign and I just got this overwhelming flood of emotions. Like, this is my wife. I'm her's and she's mine forever now. And...it was just something I didn't expect. I was so happy and loved and...it's so hard to explain. We did our pictures in less then an hour (because we're awesome, and also we didn't want a ton of staged shots), and our bridal party went to join the cocktail hour with our parents. Wifey (I had to correct myself! I said FI she was Wife by then!), grabs me and we go into this little room and just spent like five mintues just holding each other. I was so glad we did that. Seriously, guys, take 5 minutes at some point, grab your partner and just go be quiet alone. No photographer, no families, no friends. There were so many emotions going on, that 5 minutes gave us a change to get centered, to connect with each other, to really remember what the whole day was about. It was perfect. Then we joined up with everyone for the end of cocktail hour.
We got announced and did our first dance to Stand By Me, we had yummy food, we danced with our dads to Sweet Child O' Mine. An acoustic version, it was so perfect. They'd been pushing for it but we were just like...um...we want something a little...slower. And then my dad sent me the youtube link and I was like yes, oh my god, yes.
The coolest thing happened a little later though, I hear the DJ announce "This one is from the moms to the brides, come dance with your moms ladies" and it was Landslide. That has always been mine and my mom's song. She used to dance around with me and sing it to me when I was kid. So I go and dance with her and then I glance over and see one of my step-moms has pulled wife out onto the dance floor to dance with her and then my other step-mom joins them and I see wife is like tearing up, so me and my mom shuffle on over and my mom goes "My girls, both of you, Sophie, we're your moms, always remember, you got three now" and I was straight up crying at this point. Wife's mom sucks. She kicked her out when she came out and hasn't spoken to her since, so wedding planning was bringing up some emotions for her, especially with my moms around. My moms have always told her she's family, she's their daughter too, but just this moment of them wrapping the both us and reminding her she's their's now was so amazing. Then SIL came out to join in with my grandma and it was this cool, super strong warrior women of the family all dancing together moment.
We kept the party going until 2am, some of our friends hit an after hours club together but we went back to the hotel, kicked off our shoes and fell asleep. On the couch of our hotel room. We got up at like 3 and went to the pool and got in trouble with security because the pool was actually closed (sign should be bigger and in neon!) and then we went back to the room and had shower sex and then fell asleep in bed.
Yesterday we got our brunch, and then went over for a late lunch/early dinner with our parents, bridal party, and some of our out of town guests. My dad and step-mom hosted it as a thank you to everyone and it was pretty good food.
Since we didn't go out of town to get legally married, Wifey went back to work today, I did not. We're thinking we'll do a little get away after the holidays. I think I covered everything. But ya know if you're like "Why are you not talking about the thing!!!" tell me so I can talk about it. Cause there was a lot of drink and I think my brain is just done today.
