Need good vibes

I swear, when shit rains, it pours, and I've had nothing but bad news for weeks now. To top it all off, I just got a "thanks, but no thanks" letter from a school I had accepted an assistant coaching job from. I was supposed to start next week. Apparently they decided to "go in another direction" when they got a last minute application from someone with more experience. Oh, and they forgot to tell me.

It was just for fun, but I was really excited about it and told everyone I knew. I made my holiday plans around it. An now, it's gone, and I'm way more devistated than I probably should be.  :(

  • *hugs* That really sucks, you have every right to be devastated, it was something you were excited about! That was really shitty of them to forget to tell you but that might be a sign that working for them wouldn't have been that great.

  • That sucks.  I second Beth in saying that working for them sounds like it would have been a potential nightmare.  *hugs*  Best of luck as you continue your job hunt!

  • I'm bummed because of timing. If I had known this weeks ago, I wouldn't have turned down the other school that offered me the position. Instead, I posted their position on my triathlon club's webpage, which I'm guessing lead to a few inquiries. I did e-mail them though, just in case.

This was supposed to me the start of my "find your passion" project. I don't really have anything that gets me fired up, and I wanted to find something I loved. I tried fostering a puppy, that was a disaster. So, I figured I used to love competetive swimming, his was my way to get back into it on a different level.

  • I'm so sorry. Just remember that things happen for a reason (sometime that reason takes a really long time to figure out) and that everything will be ok in the end. Are there any other coaching positions available in your area?

  • Aw, that's a bummer. It's even worse that they just didn't even bother telling you. That's just so inconsiderate that it pisses me off even more.

  • You can be as devastated as you want to be! You have every right. That really sucks, I'm sorry. Do something fun just for you, and also drink wine. Or whiskey. ;)

  • I'm so sorry. That sucks.

Also, thanks but no thanks letter? Total douche move! Those sorts of things merit a phone call, crappy school.

  • An e-mail. Apparently they sent me an e-mail a week ago letting me know the were "going in another direction" but it didn't go through. They hadn't realized it didn't go through. I'm just pissed because I was verbally offered the position and told I'd be contacted closer to the start of the season to finish the paperwork. I relied on that, turned down other offers for that, and it was crap. Ugh. Ah well. One of my good friend coaches little league softball, and she said I could be her assistant in the spring to build up some experience working with kids.

  • Ugh. That is really shitty and I am so sorry this is happening to you @msuprincess04
Well, isn't the saying when one door closes another one opens. I bet something good is waiting for you just around the corner! (sorry for the cliche-y advice but I really believe it!)
