boutineer or bouquet?

We have 2 adult daughters that will be standing with us when we get married.  One is straight One is gay.   They're not really maid of honor and best man, they're just our adult children from previous relationships standing up with us.

The question is one is wearing a dress (she likes dressing up) and the other one is wearing a pants, tie and jacket (she hates dresses! and I wouldn't dream of asking her to wear one, she'd look so uncomfortable).

The one who is wearing a dress will carry a small bouquet but what should the other one have, a bouquet of flowers or a boutineer?  I asked her and she said it was up to me!  She's so sweet but it really doesn't matter to me, I just want her to be comfortable.   So we agreed she'd think about it and we'd talk about it again in a couple of days.

Thoughts?  Anyone else have a similar situation?   What did you do?

Re: boutineer or bouquet?

  • I would personally do a boutonniere. I saw a photo from a friends wedding and they had a groomswoman that wore a suit. She had a boutonniere on and looked so comfortable. I would imagine that if she doesn't like dresses, she likely wouldn't like a whole bouquet. You could even make her a fun boutonniere that isn't with flowers.

  • I agree with @hmgriffor, I think the boutonniere would be perfect!
  • Thanks!  We decided on a boutonnier since she'll be stand with her Dad and won't walk down the aisle.  She can also hold the rings for us then too.
