Wedding Woes

Woo! Friday!

DH found out he has 4 PTO days to use before the end of the year.  I think he's going to take off the day before Thanksgiving, Dec 26th, and the next 2 Wednesdays I'm off work.  :)

I think we're going to try to squeeze in 3 vacations next year.  Man, it's nice to have life settled and be able to say we can probably swing something like that because we're not waiting on some major life event.

I'm doing back to back parties at my house (housewarming and then my sister's surprise 30th bday) and I'm trying to squeeze in my mom group's cookie exchange (not at my house).  I'm insane.

Anything fun planned for the weekend?  I think our friends are going to come over tomorrow and we're going out for Nov bdays with the in-laws on Sunday.

Re: Woo! Friday!

  • PTO is awesome.  DH has veteran's day off next week which coincides nicely with something at school.  He's also taking the whole week of Thanksgiving off.

This is the last wide open weekend for awhile.  We have zero plans for Saturday.  A store nearby does free crafts so I'm thinking we might hit that.   Sunday we're going to attempt smoking turkey.

The following weekend is my dad's 70th bday party, then the kids are gone for a weekend, then tday, then Max's bday, then my family Chirstmas, real Christmas, New Year's, then hello 2015.

  • Tomorrow was supposed to be our last soccer game, but since last week's was rained out, there's a makeup a week from tomorrow.  It will be chilly tomorrow, and it's a 9:00 game, so I am expecting some grumpiness from everyone except DS (and that includes me).  Test driving cars.  Talking about taking the kids hiking Sunday, but we're going to play it by ear.

I forgot my coffee at home this morning.  I have some VIA as an emergency backup, but it's so not the same.  :(  Better than the work coffee, though.
  • While I love working from home, my office is pretty damn sweet.  They have coffee/tea machines that make at least 100 different combos of coffee or tea.  We also have a full service cafeteria and a walk up market type thing (it's unmanned, you use a 'cafe' card to pay).  Plus all the rec areas, full gym, and free personal trainers that teach fitness classes or do one on one sessions.  And an NP on site.  I wouldn't be sad to go back to the office one day, but not having to deal with traffic, pants, see co-workers face to face, and the fact that we'll be able to ditch our daycare bill in about 1.5 years is also pretty sweet.

I need to start brainstorming ideas for white elephants gifts for the IL exchange.  We do a couple cheesy things and a couple practical/useable things. I kind of want to do a theme for our contributions.
  • We don't have anything planned for the weekend but I want to do something.  I've been staying in most of the week because it's cold and I.need.out.
  • Our Halloween candy + wine party last week was cancelled, so it's Saturday night.  I need to make some gluten free bread to bring with.  I don't hate gluten free bread, but I'd really rather be making my French bread.  Oh well.

Other than that, finishing covering the windows b/c OMG it decided to get cold.  And the rest is SSDD.
  • Man oh man.  FRIDAY!

I have a few plans this weekend.  I am going to prep for H to continue siding the house tomorrow.  BUT, while he's doing that, I'll be meeting a friend halfsies and we'll have lunch.  I haven't seen this friend in almost a year, even though she lives only 100 miles away.  SHAME.  BUT, I'm excited, so there is that.

Other than that---packing  few house things.  Getting ready for vacation---VEGAS BABY.

  • Oh, and I Ferbered DS last night.  I hated doing it, but I got lazy when he was teething and started rocking him to sleep, so he started doing the "wake up every 90 minutes and cry until Mom rocks me back to sleep" thing.  And for all my complaining earlier this week about DH sleeping through it, he really did try with DS the past few nights, DS just wasn't having it.  He would become enraged if DH showed up instead of me.  The bad news is, he kept up his protest for 45 minutes past bedtime.  The good news is, he didn't keep DD awake, and once he went to sleep, he slept until morning.  (Well, 5:00, but I'll take what I can get.  He's still processing the time change.)

I felt really bad because I created this problem, and with going OOT next week, I really didn't want him up screaming for me at 2:45.  The good news is, he's historically been a great sleeper, so assuming I get him back on track for good this weekend, it should be smooth sailing from now on.  (Until he gets a cold.  Or more teeth come in.  Or--god forbid--an ear infection.  But I'll worry about that later.)
  • it's my working friday, but i'm trying to get out of here early-ish so i can go home and bake. Wolverine's birthday party is tomorrow, and i'm making a TMNT cake for her. (it will be Leonardo's head - red velvet inside, buttercream frosting)

I still need to call chick fil a and order a party tray, and get some fruit and veggie trays. Party is after lunch (1:30-3) so i don't want to go overboard on food, but i also don't want people to be hungry.

I also need to get a card of some sort for my friend and her new husband - they got married in PA a few weeks ago, and are having a party in TX on Saturday night. We couldn't make the PA wedding, but we're excited to go celebrate with them tomorrow.
  • Today I am going to Wine Night at a friend's house. Basically we drink shitty wine, play Cards Against Humanity, and talk. I am so looking forward to this. Saturday, I need to clean then my parents are coming over to watch the kids while me an DH go out for dinner. Sunday will be relaxing. I need to go to Costco so I might do that then. I also want to work on a few projects around the house.
  • Drunken CAH is really the best.  Have a good time, PMeg!
