Veil Advice/Opinion needed Stat!

I fell in love with this veil during my fitting (they didn’t completely let down one side of my train so ignore that in the photo)…but it costs $300!  That seems a bit insane to me…but it is a peacock style and I can’t find a cheaper etsy version.  I take that back, I did find one peacock style but the seller didn’t have the greatest ratings and it isn’t as nice as this one.  Anyways,  I never thought that I was a veil person so didn’t really consider one but wanted to try some on for fun today - what a terrible idea!  LOL.  It is three weeks from my wedding and I have to decide by Monday in order to get it in time.  What do you think - worth the splurge or move on?

It wouldn't be worth the splurge to me, especially if I wasn't planning on having a veil anyway. But it's really up to you. Do you think you will regret not having the veil or is it just something fun that would be nice to have but you wouldn't really miss it?

ETA: And for what it's worth, IMO that veil seems like too much with your dress. I would've paired it with a much more simple veil since you dress already has a lot going on at the bottom.

  • OMG, thanks for that - it helps to have someone say that it isn’t as great as I thought.  Seriously the reality smack I needed back to reality b/c I was seriously fixated…now I can quit obsessing and move on.
  • I don't love veils, so take me with a grain of salt, but I think it's really too much with your dress. It's so poofy! I think something more understated would be a lot nicer. If I had your dress, I'd go with no veil and a blingy comb.

Ps- yout butt looks great in that dress!
  • Absolutely agree with previous posters that you should only get it if you really love it and will be seriously sad not to have it. I am also not a veil person and I agree that it's really poofy when the bottom of your dress is already quite poofy.  I would like a simple veil or no veil better I think. And RebeccaFlower is absolutely right that you look great from behind in that dress!

  • My sister's veil/comb was probably almost that much from the bridal shop, and it was nothing special... maybe because I can't see it from the front, but it looks a little 80s to me, sorry!!

  • I like veils, but I don't like this one. It looks really 80s.

I would save your 300 bucks.

  • I'd move on and find something that will complete your look (in my opinion, veils do that) but that won't break the bank!
  • I would find something else that is more in your price range.  Like others have said, I am not a fan of that veil.  It is just too much, especially with your already elaborate dress.  And no veil is worth $300.

I would go back to the salon and try on different style veils.  Remember that not only will you have your dress on but your hair done and makeup done and other accessories so you don't want the veil to over power all of that.  Something simple is always best, in my opinion.

  • I definitely think it's too much with your dress and a very dated style. I'd skip a veil.
