Bride vs Groom

I am at a loss with what to do for a honeymoon. I personally want to go to an island all inclusive but my future husband wants to go to Europe. He did't say where in Europe just in general thats where he wants to go. As much as I would love to go there I just feel like there would not be enough time to see everything that we would want to see, and I also feel that I would not get to relax since there would be so much to see and do, thats why I tend to think that the island is the better option, is there an option that I am not aware of that would satisfy both of us?

  • How much time do you have? What's your budget?

  • Ditto PPs on needing more info. What is it about Europe that he likes? If we. Had an idea of what it is he is looking to get out of being in Europe, it would help.m

  • What is your traveling style?  Much like CMGr, my husband likes relaxing, I like sightseeing...we love cruising.  In fact, we just got home from a cruise about an hour ago (and yes, I'm procrastinating doing laundry to catch up on TK!).  Has he been to Europe before?  Budget is a HUGE factor.  You can do an all-inclusive in Mexico or the Dominican Republic for way less than Europe so we need much more info from you...

  • Yeah, we definitely need more info. We went to Florence for 10 days. You have to sort of resolve yourself to the fact that you're not going to see everything, at least not without making yourself crazy.

We rented an apartment, so we had a full kitchen to cook in. So, if we wanted to stay in and cook, we had that option. We also didn't make any plans or reservations until we got there. So, if we wanted to spend a whole day in bed in our apartment, we could. Our trip was actually really relaxing, and we still fit in a lot.

  • Those are so different! Have you traveled together before? Did you ask him where in Europe he was thinking?

If you're looking for relaxing and beaches and European culture, Lisbon+Algarve coast, Paris for a few days and down to Nice, Rome and Cinque Terre, Croatia is amazing, Malta is a really special spot. You can make "Europe" as relaxing as you want.
  • You are never going to see anything in one trip, so don't get hung up on that. Pick a small geographic location and focus on that. Like the others said, Mediterranean destinations would check both boxes, like Greece, Italy or Spain. The Balearic islands of Spain are beautiful and the town of Palma on Mallorca has some fantastic old architecture. We went in early May and it was a little too cold, however. So timing will matter. You can do all the beach stuff there- lay out, kayak, boat tours, etc, plus see some old European sights. It would be a good compromise.

  • My and my husband have completely diff interests too.  while I don't necessary want to go to a resort and lay at a pool all day, I do like beaches and relaxing, whereas he'd be bored after 5 minutes of relaxing  He is more interested in sight seeing, experiencing other cultures, foods, etc.  we still haven't decided on a location but a couple places I had looked at as a compromise were Greece and Belize.

  • We have not talked about budget I want to do things within reason, and I am not sure even where to start with a budget. Our wedding is October 1, he has been to Italy before I have never been to Europe. If we went to Europe it would probably be Italy, since he really enjoyed it. I am afraid to do a cruise since I get sea sick. Thanks everyone for all the info at least now I have some ideas as to where to start. Budget is going to be the first thing to think about. :)
