Re: delete

  • I came for the DD while drinking my coffee at my desk.
I am Career Woman, hear me roar!

You can always hire help, you know.

  • Since I don't have a job, I am just sitting at home reading this thread like this

Ya know, since we are all trolls who don't have jobs.

    Duh.

Seriously, I'm really curious where the OP is from and what her social circle is like that makes her think she is unique for being a career woman trying to plan a wedding. IRL I know one SAHM that worked up until her son was born and plans to go back to work once her kids are in school. Every other woman I know either works full-time or is in school full-time.
I managed to plan a wedding across the country, in a different time zone, while being a full-time grad student working 2 part-time jobs. I had all my vendor meetings over email or the phone.

Well even most SAHMs worked before they got married. It just doesn't make sense at all, especially when most SSs seem to assume that everyone on this site is engaged and turns into a pumpkin once they get married.

    Yea, this.

Nix the bridesmaids all together. What if they're prettier than you? Or what if they have hot pink hair?

And if you do decide to go with bridesmaids, make sure they all stay on birth control till after your wedding.

Shit not just birth control, they should cease all other relationships until after the wedding. Don't want anything pesky like their own wedding/anniversary/special date night/vacation/SOs birthday getting in the way of all their duties.

Well I would sincerely hope that they love me enough not to get engaged during my wedding year! I mean, the nerve!

Exactly. If they get in a relationship, just let them know you'll accept their resignation since they ca no longer devote the time......

You may also want to put them on a diet and workout plan so that they look good for your wedding. But you will need to do a weekly weigh in to make sure that they aren't skinnier then you because you must be the smallest of them all...how else will you be the best looking one?!

  • Maybe your vendors have some sort of businesswoman's special because you are an important businesswoman.

OP probably invented the Post It.  That's why she's such a busy career woman.

We just can't understand what it's like to work AND THEN meet with the florist after work.  And to have to wait, like, an entire week to get an appointment after work.  Since we are all ladies of leisure, we will just never understand.

  • If I can plan a wedding in Australia, while working 40-50 hours a week in Colorado, traveling for work once a month and flying back to AZ to see my SO every weekend, then you can find a time to meet with your vendor.
Ditto.  I flew every week from TX to MN (and back) for work for the first 4 months of our 8 month engagement.  Suck it up.
  • Well, I lost my job in August, so I guess I have all the time in the world to plan, right? Who cares that you might have to give vendors money in return for services? Surely my good looks and charm will be enough payment. I mean, IT IS MY DAY.

  • Damnit, the vendors should be meeting me where I work!  They need to understand that as a thriving business woman I don't have time to work around their schedules.  They should be honored to have the privilege of serving me!

  • I am a SAHM and I just spend all of my day on here. I don't do laundry, or run errands, or play with/feed my kids. But even before all this, I had an office job and still managed to plan my wedding. Maybe I was just spoiled because my now H went and met several vendors when I couldn't.
  • I've honestly been waiting for a newbie to comment on one of these posts with something like "omg are you serious?"

  • You GUYS!!  I worked through my entire engagement and even moved in the middle of it for my job!  I OBVIOUSLY need a do over!

  • I don't know what the rest of you are talking about but as soon as I got engaged I quit my job. Wedding planning became my job.  I mean it is the most important day of your life and you should focus solely on that.  Wedding planning > career.
    lol- true story.

I know someone who did this.
