Well obviously you don't take it that seriously if just YOU quit your job. I quit mine and then made all my bridesmaids quit theirs to make sure they had enough time for all their duties. It's MY big day, they should be pulling their weight to make it happen for me!
But before that, you obviously have to make sure they have enough money in their bank accounts. It's an HONOR and a PRIVILEGE to be your bridesmaid. They need to devote all of their time AND money to do so.

IRL I know one SAHM that worked up until her son was born and plans to go back to work once her kids are in school. Every other woman I know either works full-time or is in school full-time.
I managed to plan a wedding across the country, in a different time zone, while being a full-time grad student working 2 part-time jobs. I had all my vendor meetings over email or the phone.

You may also want to put them on a diet and workout plan so that they look good for your wedding. But you will need to do a weekly weigh in to make sure that they aren't skinnier then you because you must be the smallest of them all...how else will you be the best looking one?!

If I can plan a wedding in Australia, while working 40-50 hours a week in Colorado, traveling for work once a month and flying back to AZ to see my SO every weekend, then you can find a time to meet with your vendor.

No, it'll be "OMG I totally agree! My sister got so pissy with me when I just gave her the easy out and said she didn't have to be a bridesmaid, but COME ON, it was the right thing to do! It would just be too stressful for her to have a new boyfriend AND be a good bridesmaid to her only sister. She's just lucky he ended up cheating on her with her best friend in time for me to bring her to choose floral arrangements the next day. She's back in the wedding now that she's single again, obvs!
