Gifting Brownies

DH and I are going to a friends birthday celebration tonight and we have decided to make him the brownies the friend is obsessed with that I made frequently when DH and friend lived together.

How would you package the brownies up to give as a present?

Re: Gifting Brownies

  • Cookie tin or nice Tupperware.

  • I like to get cute gift boxes and put wax paper/ butcher paper in it. Put the brownies on the paper, fold the paper over the top of them, put the lid on, put a bow on top. Then it's like the brownies are bonus gift-wrapped.

  • If there's any possibility whatsoever that this friend would ever make the brownies himself, I'd make them in a nice glass or ceramic baking dish and gift them right in it, along with the recipe printed up on a card.

If this is a person who doesn't care about kitchen stuff whatsoever, I'd package them up in a bakery-style cardboard box.

  • how do I get on the brownie as gift list?  I LOVE brownies!
  • Haha they are baileys Irish cream brownies. :) friend is a man who doesn't know how to cook worth crap so a cookie tin might be perfect.

I'm going to read through these suggestions some more and see what I have around the house :) thanks guys!

  • I would do terrible things for a brownie right now.  That sounds delicious.

  • Are these...special brownies?

ETA: Just a suggestion to liven up the party. Just kidding.

I was just ocming in here to ask if these are pot brownies.
  • You can throw those brownies in the mail and send them straight to me. IDGAF about packaging. :-)

  • If they're not baked yet, bake them in cute muffin paper (why the hell can't I think of the word for that!) and put them on some kind of plate or tray.

Also, these sound delicious. Recipe, please!

  • Better make sure he's not the kind of person who would never eat homemade food from someone's unknown, possibly germy kitchen before you send them!

(Kidding. I have already expressed my thoughts on whether germs can survive the heat of the oven.)

Funny story... I made these one year for a party.. Typical college party, kegs a bazillion people crammed into a house. I offered them on a plate and many people were turning them down. Finally someone asked "are these special brownies? I said "no! Just baileys Irish cream!" He said "okay good, I don't want any drugs. Everyone thinks you're giving out pot brownies"

I didn't even think of that. I felt pretty awful haha

  • I only make special brownies.

And then I have to wrap them in wax paper, then two layers of freezer bags, then whatever container I'm using, so the smell doesn't seep out.

But they're the most popular gift I ever give. Even more so when I make them in fun shapes (I'm not artistic and I suck at making things pretty, but it's still fun to try to do, like the Lego ones below.)

  • You could cut them up and wrap them in plastic wrap then put them in a box with a bow.

Can you like, pm me that recipe? H thinks that the occasional special brownie will help with his migraines, and no one I know bakes with it.

Don't you have to cook the pot into the butter or something? @amelisha‌

Edited because autocorrect makes me look stupid.

Huh, see, I never would have thought of this. I would fuck those brownies up.

I tried to make special cookies once. Pothead psycho ex couldn't taste the pot in them but BOY HOWDY I COULD. I just mixed it in with the mix. So gross. Took one bite, almost barfed from how nasty it was.

FI said you have to cook a shit ton of it in butter and then use it in whatever. Then you can't really taste it. (He says, I don't necessarily buy that)

Yup. Grind super fine, sautee, filter (use coffee filter) the junk, use the " new" oil. If you use butter instead of oil (which you can make in bulk and store), use a double boiler since butter burns at a lower temp.

This is fantastic information for... reasons.

Yes, of course this is just my thought on how MAYBE it might work if, like, I was guessing

  • I've never been a fan of baking or cooking with marijuana. To me, it's like the old joke about Christian rock music. It improves neither Christianity or rock.
I enjoy the actual smoking process, and have a great respect for good quality smokables. And baking. I also take my baked goods very seriously. Baked and baking is lovely.

(Legalization, by the way, has not been good for quality. I am so far unimpressed with what's for sale in the shops. It's like living through prohibition, but with a beautifully stocked wine cellar, and then prohibition ends, but all you can buy is 3 buck chuck. Meh. Maybe things will improve.)

My daughter bought me some infused olive oil, and I was hopeful about that. It was dreadful. I'm going to continue on in the traditional way.

Fifthed. Always wanted to try them, bro keeps saying he will give me some but it's been years. Plus I really question his baking skills
