a herd of ladybugs. Ugh.
I never even noticed them come into the house. I saw one or two inside and thought nothing of it. Then, a couple weeks ago before the weather got arctic, I came around the corner and saw this strange undulating mass wedged into the corner of the door frame. I freaked out. But when I got closer I realized it was tons and tons of ladybugs, all clustered and stacked on top of each other. I asked FI if he thought we should put them outside, but added "we're supposed to get a really bad frost tonight, so I'm kind of scared that they'll all die if we put them out there."
He (the guy who hates bugs) said "Meh. Just leave em alone. They're good luck anyway." So we left them. They're still there... hibernating? Breeding?! Am I going to end up with a major infestation? Are they seriously going to just sit there in a lump all winter long? What do they even eat???
Now it's well below freezing outside and there's snow, so there's definitely no option of putting them out there. I would feel way too guilty knowing that I was dooming them to freeze and have a horrible death. So there they sit. In our house.
ETA photos, for those of you who expected puppy pictures and were disappointed. Here's some pictures of both my dogs when they were little and adorable.
