All I Want for Christmas Is...

These damn booties! Oh my goodness I'm obsessed! I've been thinking about them for over a week now, and they are so comfortable and have great reviews for wearing long hours.

http://m.bananarepublic.gap.com/product.html?dn=bp970247012&dv=1&shopid=2&pdn=bc29096

Wear them with my super cute skinny jeans I asked for for Christmas and I'm all taken care of.

That price tag is making me bawl my eyes out. I haven't really shown the shoes to anyone because of that price. I've looked at other booties, but they're just not as comfortable or the proportions of the shoe are off to me and don't look like this beautiful shoe. So, y'all can chip in on a gofundme, right? I need these shoes. NEED.

Re: All I Want for Christmas Is...

  • I got in a fight with my husband over student loan payments.. So I'm thinking about shoes instead of how mad I am at him.

  • I really do not have anything in mind this year.  Which is odd.  I normally have a decent list.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • Those are cute. I'm too hippy to wear anything like that though (need more volume at my skinny ankles to balance then out) so I can't totally get on board with the obsession. I do love you for spelling "bawl" correctly though - I can't tell you how many of my Facebook friends think it's spelled "ball."

I want a nice new laptop bag for work. Thinking gray leather.

  • @sugargirl1019 OH MY GOSH THOSE BOOTS. But yeah, the price made me choke a little bit.

At FMIL's request I put together a list of inexpensive little things I'd like to have, but there's nothing I really want this year besides stuff from our registry.

I get super self-conscious in bulkier shoes because I think my feet are too big.

A new leather laptop bag sounds super exciting. Leather is how I feel tonight.

  • If you buy them on Wednesday (in store) you can get them 40% off.

(I work part time at a BR. By parttime I mean once a week for the discount.)

Those are pretty cute. There are tons of booties exactly like that at a million different stores, so just go find ones that are similar that regular people can afford!

I just bought a pair of black booties similar to those with snake skin from guess. 40 bucks at DSW. I can get on board with high heeled booties.

  • I made a list of smaller items for the ILs, but it turns out that we aren't exchanging gifts with them this year. So, I need to come up with stuff for DH and I'm stuck.

Speaking of shoes, I have a rather extensive list of shoes that I created while I was sick. It's my goal to buy all of them now that  I'm well. Except I can't wear the clothes that I'd wear the shoes with yet. ARG. I did buy 3 pairs of ballets over the weekend because they were on sale, so that was my first crack at the list. The next things I'd like to purchase are below, but not sure I trust DH to buy them on his own.

  • Those are cute! They would look awful on me and I would like an icecream cone. I have huge hips and tiny feet. But it looks like you could pull it off.

FWIW, like Larry said, other stores will have some similar, but I splurge on shoes and those don't seem terribly unreasonable to me. But shoes and boots are my one thing I will spend too much money on.

  • Damn you and your cute booties, OP! I can never find boots or booties that fit me.

All I want for Christmas is... a job. And a new tattoo.

  • In the last year we combined 2 homes and got a ton of wedding gifts. We don't really have space for much more. I want a sewing machine but know where it would go. I'm thinking about asking for a subscription to Ancestry.com. Or maybe a 23 and Me kit.

I'm stumped about what to get DH. The few ideas I've had for him I've given to my family (we're a small group and we all exchange gifts). The stuff he talks about wanting is very specific and easy to get wrong. They're also things that I'd need to get off of Craig's List or eBay in order to make them even remotely affordable. Because they're not returnable, I'm hesitant to buy any of it. He might just get a pretty card with a handmade gift certificate promising to pay for it when he finds the right thing. Not romantic but what he wants... (we're talking things like server racks and parts for the '32 Ford he's rebuilding)

  • I literally have nothing I want this year.  I have too much stuff as is and seriously need to get rid of it before stuff on our registry is being gotten for us.  I told everyone who normally gets me stuff to make a donation to a charity they like to support instead.

  • Looks like we might be doing a mini getaway instead of gifts to each other. I found a B&B nearby with Jacuzzi suites and a murder mystery dinner!

  • I really want a FitBit. I have some medical issues that make it very hard to lose those 'last 10lbs' and I really think having a better understanding of input vs. output will help me. But I have a very hard time spending money on myself so i'd never buy myself one. Pretty sure FI is getting me one, he's terrible at keeping secrets. finger crossed.

I also really want my FMIL baking recipes. I doubt I'll get those yet though. She loves me, but i'm not sure if I've reached the level of imparting secret family recipes yet. One day I will succeed!

  • If they are that comfortable and you think you'll wear them often, buy them.  Why people buy cheap ass shoes when your feet spend a LOT of time in them is beyond me.  I'm not rich nor do I have a ton of disposable income, but I save up for more expensive shoes that don't make my feet ache when I wear them.  Takes a while, but it's worth it.

I also don't have 10,000 pairs of shoes... I think I have about 12 and each has a specific purpose, so I get a lot of use out of them.  And I'm willing to repair them if they need mending.  Which, come to think of it, my big-ass snow boots do...

I totally would buy them, but we are closing on our house next month (yay!) and are saving every dime we have. So this is a "I want to put it on my Christmas list (and shout them at the top of my lungs to everyone) but I don't want anyone to think I'm being selfish" item.

I'd just ask for BR gift cards. You might get a few smaller ones from a few people that bring the out of pocket cost to a more attainable level.

  • All I want for Christmas this year is a bag lady cart.

    http://www.containerstore.com/shop/kitchen/carts?productId=10030538

I love my small apartment (less to clean and manage) but lugging in all the groceries can be a pain in the ass.  I've not had any trouble with it during the dry months, but we have to walk up an incline from the parking lot across the street from our building to get to our street and I'm worried I'm going to fall this winter and make a mess of my bags.

So, I really, really want this bag lady cart.  And I don't have room for anything else.  I like having less.  I feel less bogged down.

  • I don't really need anything. Maybe a spring ski pass, but we have too much stuff as it is and I know we're going to want to move in June so I am so reluctant to have any more crap to pack.

The boots are cute and they're probably decent quality if they're BR (although I admit I've never bought shoes there, just clothes.) If they're actual leather that seems like a pretty average price, so if they go on sale I'd snap them up for sure.

  • FI has been keeping a list on his phone all year, so anytime I've mentioned anything that I want, he just puts it on the list. I have no idea what's even on this list. It's good that he's kept it, though, because I wouldn't have the foggiest idea what to even ask for. I'd like a glass bowl for my stand mixer, but now that I'm moving and having to pack everything up again, I'm finding how little I want more stuff

I'd like a bird feeder for our new patio, I suppose!

I want to finish upgrading my kitchen stuff...cooking utensils, trivets, mitts. I would love new pots and pans but that probably won't happen.
I'm obsessed with doing this too. Everything on our registry (and everything we bought with wedding money) is kitchen-related.

The #1 item on my Christmas list is a Global fillet knife. I've also decided that I'll spend all future birthdays and Christmases upgrading to All-Clad pots and pans. They'll probably end up being combined birthday-Christmas gifts :P

ETA: And a Vitamix... someday *sigh*
