Unexpected compliments

I swear, every time I don't like my hair or makeup or some something new I'm unsure of, I get the most compliments haha.  Today my hair is very straight because last night I was lazy and just blow dried it straight rather than taking any effort to make it wavy or curled due to the weather and while I hate it when I wear is stick straight (I'm a naturally curly girl) I've gotten 4 compliments on how nice my hair looks today.  And I'm testing a new lipstick that was sent to me which is very shiny (I almost exclusively wear matte) and a bunch of people have asked me about it!  I feel pretty blah today but apparently, it's working for me haha.

Does this happen to anyone else?

    Nope. Never.

ETA: Kidding. I get compliments on my freckles more when I don't wear makeup :)

YESSSSSSS! When I just slap on whatever I first see, people tell me how cute my clothes are. When I am wearing ten pounds of makeup to hide a break out, people tell me they wish they had smooth skin like me.
    Haha I hear ya!

  • That's awesome! I usually don't like to be too adventurous with colour on my lips so I find when I stray from regular pink/nude it surprises people and thus compliments.

Also if I'm going out or it's the weekend and I'm doing something fun I'll curl my hair, but for a usual work day I'll wear it straight. So if I have my hair curly at work it catches people by surprise because they never really see me with that style. So more compliments- it's nice, haha!

If I wear a nude lip or no lipstick (the horror!) people ask me if I'm sick haha.  I always go bold!

  • My friends invited me out to a bar and I hadn't planned on going out. I looked like crap and my outfit was not cute. But I went anyway and just said "screw it." Who do I need to impress anyway?

Well the minute I walk in, a guy comes over (who's holding hands with a girl who I assumed was his girlfriend?!) leaned towards me, and said "I love you!"

Moments later a lesbian came over, stroked my hair, and said "You're so beautiful." (Is it weird that her compliment made me smile more than the guy's did?) lol

I was like "WTF? I guess I don't look so crappy."

  • Literally last night I was going through the Popeye's drive-through, the girl complimented me on my hair. I'm about a week away from needing it done, I'd just gotten off a 12 hour day at work, and the humidity was doing God knows what to it. But it really brightened my evening, so I said, "Thanks!" Then I complimented her hair because it did look awesome. She had bright red streaks and braids so it looked really cool.

Then as I was driving away, insecure me wondered, did she compliment my hair so I'd compliment hers? Nahhh...

@flutteringinftmyers‌ I had Popeyes for dinner last night too!

    But no compliments.

Although one time I went there without a bra on (it was late, no fucks were given) and they gave me a free extra piece of chicken! Best compliment ever!

Well, although I got a compliment, I did not get blackened ranch because they were out, and I'm pretty sure they gave me regular chicken instead of spicy.

Did they tell you what the extra piece was for? Popeye's is always such a unique experience for me compared to other fast food places. I get legit raised eyebrows and looks of horror when I order unsweet tea. But their food is amazing so I don't worry.

  • Nah, he just told me that he put an extra piece in there for me. Not even a wink. He was probably just being nice, but I choose to believe that my ample bosom was the cause.
  • I had static-y hair yesterday that was sticking up a bit crazier than usual (it's always sticking up, but this was more messy than styled).  I have a sty on my left eyelid, so there's a big red bump, AND I had crap makeup.  I went in to say hi to J at work and meet his coworkers, and as soon as I left, one of the girls said "she's really pretty!  Good job!"

    I got the warm fuzzies.

  • I had someone compliment me on my ears once. Strangest compliment I have ever received.

  • I have naturally very, very curly, very, very big hair which takes almost 2 hours to straighten now, so I basically never do it -- like maybe 2-3 times a year. I straightened it a few weeks ago, and I couldn't believe the number of compliments I got. I didn't think it was that big of a deal, although I know it makes me look very different, but it was incredible. :D
  • Yes!  Every. single. time. I am hella lazy and don't wash my hair before work I get compliments.  All I do is pull my bangs back and do a ponytail and people are like, "omg you look sooooo niiiiiice today!"  And then I just sit there and think… I guess I don't look nice when I actually try.
