Wedding Invitations & Paper

Out of Country Guest Etiquette

So my fiance has a lot of family in Ireland. He doesn't believe that anyone with the exception of his sisters will be flying over for our wedding. We are also trying to keep our numbers to 200. Do we still need to invite them?

Thanks!
Claire

Re: Out of Country Guest Etiquette

  • That's not a decision that anyone here can make for you.  It depends on a number of factors...will they be offended if they're not invited?  Who is paying for the wedding?  Do they think they should be invited?  What does your fiancé think?
  • Whether a potential guest will be offended to not be invited is not a reason to invite someone.

OP, does your FI want these people invited to your wedding? If he doesn't care, than don't invite them. You invite the people you want to invite (also taking into account the wishes of those who are paying, within reason.)

  • Can you accommodate them if they do decide to come? Would your FI want them there if they could come?

If yes, invite. If no, don't.
