Your holiday weekend in gifs

Wednesday I got to go home early thanks to all the snow.

image

Thursday we drove to my mom and dad's. I ate all the food.

image

And drank all the wine.

image

We stayed over. My dad made awesome pancakes for breakfast the next morning.

image

Saturday I got my nails done

image

and ran errands
image

And then because apparently I hadn't eaten enough, we went out to dinner with our friends.

image

And then this was me Sunday.

  • I forgot something! My brother's crazy ex-fiance decided to call us multiple times on Thanksgiving.

    image

She was blowing up my brother's phone. She texted me, and she then started texting and calling my mom. WTF? None of us have spoken to her in over two months.

Whew! That's rough and very awkward. Seriously, who does that?

So Wednesday my SO and I were supposed to head to his family's after work. It was snowing. A LOT. So no driving because the roads weren't clear.
    image

We left early Thursday instead and the eating commenced.
    image

And lots of napping and video games.
    image

Friday, we went to a museum and saw Christmas trees and went to the planetarium.
    image

Saturday we drove home and that day and Sunday we were lazy lazy lazy!
    image

Oh and we watched the first season of the Following.

    image

    Can't wait for Christmas now!

  • I've never seen The Following, but they were filming right near us on Wednesday. Very cool!

It's a pretty good show. I wouldn't rank it as my top 3 favorite, but I do really enjoy it. The thing is, it's a really hard show to binge watch. I can't really stomach how people can treat others the way the characters in the show can, without thinking what they are doing is wrong. Some do, but others think they are justified or have a higher calling and it baffles my mind.

  • Wednesday had a half day so I worked from home.
    image

Then went to the Pistons game with H's brothers, SILs and grandpa. Grandpa had a good time, despite complaining that our suite seats weren't as good as the lower bowl season tickets he had for 50 years. We cheered him up with nachos, which he said had improved since he gave up his seats.
    image

Thursday... dinner with H's family at the club where we got married. Buffet plus turkey carving station.
    image
    image

Friday, hung Christmas lights and made cookies for Saturday and started prepping other food for Brunchgiving.
    image

Saturday... holy abomination of a Michigan game, Batman. (Not that I'm surprised.)
    image

    And more cooking!
    image

Sunday... finally... BRUNCHGIVING! Had my whole damn family over (16 people) for brunch. All the kids were stinkin' adorable and well behaved and I got snuggles from ALL of them and everyone loved all the food. :)

  • Let's see. Wednesday we didn't go in because of snow. Woke up like this:
    image
Proceeded to clean house, and play video games:
    image

The power was out EVERYWHERE in the surrounding towns. I have no idea how my parents still had power because really all you have to do there is look at the lines too hard and they'll go out. Thanksgiving with the FILs was cancelled because FMIL got called in for storm duty. FBIL and FI plowed our driveway with their dad's truck.

We had Thanksgiving with my parents. Watched Arsenic & Old Lace and ate too much.
    image

FI had to work Friday. His parents didn't have power yet and FMIL was working OT, so we had FFIL over for dinner. I made steak, pan fries, green beans, and then some chive butter to melt on the steaks. It was good, but didn't look like this:

I FINALLY painted my hallway Saturday morning. Ran around and took care of some errands, and planned all the food for Christmas present night:

    Cold Apps:

Antipasti on my ginormous fancy-looking cutting board: Roasted garlic half, tomato slices, burrata drizzled with balsamic vinegar in a dish, herbed olive oil, soppressata, prosciutto roses, capicola, truffled pecorino, some parmesan, gorgonzola dolce, and tallegio.

(small amounts of each and I'm not worried about having leftovers bc I'm perfectly happy eating a leftover antipasto-meat sub the next day)

    Hot apps:

Stuffed mushrooms, crostini and red sauce

    Main:
Big salad, followed by homemade fettuccine, lightly breaded and fried butterflied chicken breasts, roasted red peppers, and portobello mushrooms all covered in an INCREDIBLE gorgonzola cream sauce.

    Dessert:

FMIL is going to bring something and I'm making small batches of two kinds of gelato. Pistachio and very very very dark chocolate.

    image

I went to a really underwhelming bridal show with FI's BFF's FI, D. There were probably 25 vendors there, and 5-7 of them were pyramid scheme shit sellers. That was annoying. I got to try some cake and D checked out some photographers. That's the last thing she has to lock down. They're getting married 5/15 and just got engaged a couple weeks ago. She's doing DAMN good on her planning. Good for her!

Then we got Chipotle (no gif bc the video is perfection):

And THEN, I went to GameStop, bought Dragon Age: Inquisition and played that for a while:

Saturday I went to a wedding that was tacky and the B+G did not seem to be in love or happy the entire night. I got to drink and eat a lot and the music was sometimes good enough to dance.

    image

Then we put up our first Christmas tree as a couple!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We also watched Elf while decorating.

  • Wednesday, I baked 2 chocolate chess pies and two loaves of apple bread with cinnamon sugar glaze.
    image

Thursday we went to the ILs, which was very loud and no fun but at least there was tons of food.
    image

Friday I made pepperoni rolls and we decorated for Christmas!!!
    image

But then I got sick and now I am a bundle of sniffles and sadness.

  • Thursday we drove to FIL's for Thanksgiving. Even though they were basically like, "Arrive between 2 and 3!" we still got sent, "Where the heck are you guys?" texts at 1:45.

    image

I was all, "We're coming as fast as we can guyz!!!" But we made it at about 2:30 and of course everything was fine.

Dinner was great and FI and I had brought the WiiU so his sibs and us played a little of this

    image

    And a little of this...

    image

On Friday FI had to work so I spent most of the day watching this:

    image

Star Trek Enterprise. Definitely a contender for one of the weakest series. But I committed to watching it all, and Trek is still Trek to me! And hey, look at that cute dog!

On Saturday FI and I had a bit of a thing because he told me that good wedding photography should not cost more than $500.

    image

So we had to talk about that. Not a big deal at all. Both of us laughed through the conversation. But I think he still thinks more than $500 is too much for that particular item.

But we did work some more on our guest list, which is now 90% finalized. Hooray!

    image

Then on Sunday he slept in pretty late, which is totally cool. I went for a jog because I'm training for a 10k. Did 2.5 miles in 35 minutes.

    image

Then FI cleaned the kitchen and I made a delicious dinner of chicken fajitas. We watched some of this...

    image

And then I went to bed because I had to get up at 6:20 to work.

  • Thursday we went over to my Aunt's for Thanksgiving and I ate too much and then drank way to much wine and got really drunk:

    image

Thanksgiving was also my mom's bday so we celebrated with her after dinner.

    image

Friday I nursed a killer hangover for 3 hours at work and then left early.

    image

Friday night H and I ate leftovers and watched A Christmas Story (for the bazillionth time)

    image

Saturday we took our dog to the dog park. She was like this:

    image

Right into a mud puddle like this:image

That was a fun mess to clean up.

Sunday morning, H and I got some really bad news and now have to come up with lots of money that we don't have. Our lease is up and it looks like we might have to move in with my mom if we can't get things straightened out. So this is what I did pretty much all day yesterday.
