DJ's and PRICES

I'm working on my budget and trying to figure out a few things:  1.  Average price for an awesome/energetic/creative DJ  2. Are DJ's usually negotiable on their prices if the wedding is going to be a weekday?  How do we screen them?  Is it possible to see them in action???

I'm paying $750 for 5 hours (that starts from the time music starts.. not when he gets there to set up), for a Saturday wedding. He did say it's cheaper on weekdays.

That's who we are using, his name is Mike May. He's been really nice and helpful. Their website is kind of lame, but I've been to a few weddings he's DJ'd and he is a ton of fun.
