What are you getting FI/H/SO for Christmas?

I am hardcore holiday shopping today.

I got FI a graphics card, tickets to a Wings game, kinetic sand and a buttload of candy. He just got a new computer so I didn't get him much. I think I'll buy him some new underwear, as well.

Re: What are you getting FI/H/SO for Christmas?

  • I am going to get H all the things he needs to brew his own beer. He has been talking about wanting to do this FOREVER, so I will get him that. I'll also get him a ideo game and probably lots of sex. ;)

  • A t-shirt from his favourite band that he's been drooling over, a new phone case because he said he wanted one, and some fancy dark chocolates.

  • I don't think H and I are going to exchange presents this year.  We asked each other what the other wanted and he couldn't think of anything and the only thing I could think of was a new robe.  So H and I may just go and upgrade our phones to the new iPhone and call it a day.

  • We planned a trip in February instead of presents this year

  • Hockey tickets! Bought them online so no walking through crowded malls for once :)

  • I got him a new hat and a sweater also because he needs them and never goes shopping for himself.  Most of what I bought this year is for the kids and a couple things for my family

  • H really wanted a new pair of winter boots since his have pretty much bit the dust. Living in WNY and it being the first winter in our new house, he needed them. So I took him the buy the ones he wanted last weekend as part of his Christmas present. I'm also planning on getting him wireless headphones and a kit to brew his own beer as well (@sarawifenow great minds!) and new undies from AE. No idea what he's getting me but I have a feeling it's either an ipad mini or a kindle fire hdx.
  • Internet!

I haven't paid for or had cable or internet in about 6-1/2 years. DH is way more in to Tv than me so sometimes just having rabbit ears and a smartphone isn't enough for him! He already has Netflix and a Wii so I'm getting wireless internet and putting Hulu giftcards and a roku/apple tv/google chromcast on his wishlist for the family. He'll be more excited about the internet than anything I've probably ever gotten him!
  • We just got married a few weeks ago and are leaving for our honeymoon the 28th. I told him his gift was we had an awesome wedding and are going on an amazing trip because I really don't want to spend anymore money right now. I asked him not to get me anything. Now that I type that, I kind of feel like a grinch.

    This.

He's a huge Doctor Who fan and a major tabletop gamer, so a new system will be a lot of fun for him.

    ETA: Hyperlinks are hard.
  • So far, I have gotten him a second monitor for his computer., which he said he needed to try out on the stand he got for it to make sure it worked but promised he would put it back in the box to open on Christmas. Then he said it was way harder to get on the stand than he thought, so he is already using it (which I am sure was his plan all along).

He is also accumulating parts to build a new computer too, so I may end up getting him some things for that.

Otherwise, he needs another subscription for the PlayStation Network, which I will also be getting him.

His birthday is in December too and I have no idea what I am getting him for that.
  • Copper mule mugs, a nice bottle of whiskey, and ginger beer (because the new bar in town has gotten FI hooked on whiskey mules, which are the same as Moscow mules but with whiskey instead of vodka), and a real toolbox, cuz the junky plastic one I've had since I was a kid frustrates the hell out of FI and he hates using it, so now he gets his own!

I also got him some lowball glasses with dinosaurs on them (inside joke) and a mold to make ice spheres for whiskey on the rocks. I did not mean to get him so many liquor-related things, I just kept seeing stuff on sale and thinking "Omg FI would love that!" So basically he's getting a bar for xmas lol. Plus the toolbox, though!

We got copper mule mugs for our wedding, and I absolutely love them! If you're still looking, ours are from Crate and Barrel, and they have 15% off plus free shipping until midnight tonight.
  • I got him an art print to do with his favorite band by an independent artist and framed it all nicely for our new place, a pair of his favorite shoes (he's literally worn holes through the sides of the toe box in both pairs he typically wears, so he's on his last pair, which he doesn't like as much because of the color), some new sketching pencils, a wood puzzle thing he got all excited about when we saw it at the store, a pair of underwear, some fancy socks in our wedding colors because I know he'll want to match his socks to everything else, and he'll get a bunch of candy and some scratch-off lottery tickets in his stocking.

We had a spending limit, but I was suuuuuper creative and thrifty with mine.
  • Generally clothes, because he HATES clothes shopping but loves wearing nice new things. This year I'm thinking either an alarm clock dock for his iPad or some good quality, dri-weave running shirts/tights.
  • I'm going to get him an attache case, Settlers of Catan, Cards Against Humanity, and It's Always Sunny season 9. I'll probably get some other stuff too, but I'm definitely getting him those.

  • Brought hubs a couple of dvds he has been after, a book and a couple of tops. we only got married in October, so money isnt our friend right now, so being a bit more economical this year :)
What hes getting me? It'll probably be something deemed 'housey' and 'boring' but like last year - the coffee machine he brought me? I have used it every day!!

  • I asked H if we could skip presents this year (we just got married, have way too much stuff in a way to small apt, and don't need anything new).  His family is big on giving gifts just to give gifts (and don't put a lot of thought into them or the person they're buying for) so he's kind of wigging out about that.  We're compromising on a spa day/wkd away/cooking class/wine tasting/etc. so we're doing something together at least!

I did draw his name in our sibling gift exchange so i'll probably get him the sound bar thing for our tv that he's been obsessed with lately.

That is really funny and kind of adorable. He was too excited to wait! :P

  • EEE EEEE EEEEEE LET ME BOUNCE IN MY OFFICE CHAIR A MINUTE I AM SO EXCITED.

I got FI the Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug and I'm going to get him a new Blackhawks hoodie because his hoodie sucks ass and has holes. And possibly underwear. Blackhawks hoodie firstest, because it's awesome.

I suck at presents, but I'm suuuuuuuperrrrrrrr exxxxxxccccccccccccitteeeeeddddddddddddd

  • @novella1186‌ He is pretty adorable. Unfortunately he knows it too, which is how he gets away with opening his big Christmas present a month early.
  • slippers, cufflinks for our wedding next year, a new flannel, and new socks and underwear (otherwise he will not buy himself hah)
    Daisypath Anniversary tickers

  • Bluray Box set of Matt Smith's Seasons of Doctor Who. I've been dissuading him to buy it because its all on Netflix and I just don't see the point of owning it too, especially with how much it costs! How many times I've head him say 'but blurraayyyyy' hahah. So I think he'll be super happy about that. There's also this Game of Throne Directory type book that he keeps mentioning so I may pick that up as well.

Other than that I got him a couple random kitchen utensils that I know that we need. Before we moved in together we were pretty basic skills in the kitchen and had none of the random fun tools. Now that we live together we are big on cooking together and learning new techniques so we've been slowly buying the gizmos that we come across needing in recipes. So i got him an olive oil mister, hand juicer, a scrubby brush, a herb keeper etc.

  • We just spent a bunch of money on a wedding, bought a super expensive house that we now need to furnish, and are leaving in 2 weeks on a 3 week long honeymoon.

I think all those things are gift enough.

  • I haven't bought them yet but here is my list. A new hat, 6 different flavored olive oils, a fat separator, and a couple of jazz cds!
